That's exactly what I did during my prep when I did 5 AM fasted cardio. Only difference is that I was sipping Purple Wraath along with some bulk BCAAs. Sounds like you got it down just fine!

Thanks bro. I am guessing that since PW and Xtend are about the same thing (aminos) then I should be fine? I just dont wanna lose muscle!!!
I am on recharge but I will definitely hit you up ASAP brother.

why dont you eat before doing cardio?
A protein shake and an apple should digest fast enough and give you energy before the workout

If all your doing is walking it shouldn't be too catabolic but get something down. If your prepping than I agree, extend or protein shake.

I'm going to have to go with what demonwareltd said. He seems like he knows what he is talking about.
Thanks for replies.

I would so something like Xtend, Primal EAA, or just some BCAAs. Either way have some aminos in your system, and definetely drink cold water that helps a lot.

No problem! Yeah, Purple Wraath are EAA (Essential Amino Acids). I love the taste so much so they help with the more bitter flavor of my BCAAS. Best of luck to you!

do you just walk for an hour? i'm curious, does it actually help with endurance or is it just a way of burning calories?

I think doing some morning cardio helps to jump start your metabolism for the day. I don't think you'd want to do something like HIIT on an empty stomach because you'd burn too much muscle. Every other day for the last month or so of my prep I would spend 30-45 minutes doing some light cardio. Then would perform some more intense cardio later in the evening after hitting the weights...

i see, well right now i'm trying to gain weight and i workout pretty frequently but i want to keep my cardio up. i'm usually wasted by the time my workouts finish so i don't really like doing cardio after. but would walking/light jogging in the morning be good just to keep my cardio up while gaining weight?

I personally would do cardio with some food on me if I was trying to put on weight. I know it's always hard to fit it in when you are lifting hard and frequently (I slacked off hardcore last fall/winter and it made dieting much longer than I would have liked). I know that I am going to try to reduce my training frequency this year so I'm lifting less days and then just try to squeeze in 20-30 minutes of cardio 2-3 times a week to help keep things under control.

the BCAA is fine before morning cardio. Scivations Xtend is good - my choice. Although, I think their dosing recommendations benefit them more than anyone else but it can't hurt you to take a little extra.
The fasted cardio debate will confuse use all at some point. I think both sides are over-rated. EX: those who insist you'll burn muscle with every step you take and those who think it's some fat loss silver bullet.
My theory: Do what you like. If you can handle AM fasted cardio (some people can't), great; if not, eat something first. Personally, I've found that I loose SLIGHTLY more weight with AM Cardio and I don't think I've lost much muscle doing it (and yes, I use 1 scoop of extend before and 1 after). I even do HIIT sessions and sprints in the AM! Sometimes I'll eat a couple of hundred caloried first too - just depends on how I feel. I'm close to my contest now so I'm trying to limit fasted cardio to low intensity - easy run/bike. At this point the HI stuff is done later in the day.
Two Cents. Good luck.
