I ran the original Power 90 program (not the X version) about 2 years ago and had great results, lost about 35-40lbs.
As far as their nutrition plan goes, about how many calories a day are you getting? Worried about getting into too large a deficit.

You still can intake suppliments during the P90X program. They actually recommend one protein bar a day, one recovery drink post workout, and protein drinks to suppliment if you dont intake enough proteins in physical foods.
You can adjust the plan to fit your needs if you do not want to take too much of a hit during the program, you can adjust your Protein/Carb/Fat ratios. I stuck to the plan, step by step, and I'm pretty damn satisfied with my results. I'm on round 2 of it because I actually liked it so much. I know I'm not going to get huge on this program, but I'm pretty sure I will be cut up pretty damn good.

I was looking at your before/after progress pictures and you did awesome, the turn out is great! I personally never got into weight lifting to really get big, I'd prefer more of an athletic look. I mean definitely not too small, but nothing like competing or anything. I think I'll probably just stick to the plan but keep my pre/post whey and see how it goes.

Hmm, I was thinking about it a little bit more, do you think that if I stuck to the plan though that it would be wise? I mean, is it the same plan for everyone?
I'm just looking at it as my maintenance I would think is a little higher than yours because if I were eating the same as you at 5'4" and my height is 6'4", would I make the same progress or not put on as much muscle?

The plan has 3 different dietary options for 3 ranges of people. You would be in the upper range due to your height/weight. I'm in the middle range. You're dietary consumption of different types of proteins/carbs/veggies/fruits, etc would be greater then mine. The dietary plan is all layed out pretty easy. You just have to perform some of their calculations to see which range you would fall into. I can tell you that you would fall into range 3. So, each phase, (30days, 30 days, 31 days), your dietary intake changes to shock your system. Each of those phases have the appropriate amount of dietary elements you need to consume.

Hey P90Xer,
Sorry, I haven't gone back to read the entire thread. My question is, do you use DBs at home for certain exercises or bands?
I'm thinking about trying this program out since it's recommended by good workout enthusiasts but since i don't have a lot of equipment at home, just wanted to get your perspective on that.
Thanks!

How much space do you need for this because I don't have the biggest living room but I may be able to do it in my mom's room which is a bit more spacious. Also what equipment do you need?

I have DBs at home, i have from 2lbs - 50lbs DBs. If you dont have individual DBs you can buy those all in one units and just adjust the weight as needed. This would be ideal for those that do not have enough space.
You will also need the bands if you do not have a pull up bar. You can even use the bands in the place of DBs. I tried using my wifes bands a few times in place of weights and found I liked the DBs better.
For most of the routines you dont need a ton of space to perform the workouts. The only routine which requires some space are Legs/Back for all the walking lunges and Plyometrics for all the jump training exercises.
Feel free to message me with any questions, I would be more then happy to help out any way I can.

Its never easy trying to fit 1-1.5hrs in a busy day to work out and diet properly. I work 10+hrs a day, commute 1.5-2hrs a day, and have 3 small children to bring to school and care for at night. You just have to work around your schedules.
I work out and prepare my foods for the next day between 8:30-10:30pm daily. Instead of sitting on the couch and eating chips Im working on getting my body into shape. Its a complete lifestyle change. This isnt something you can just do on and off to get to a place where you are satisified. You have to work at it and change your life to encorporate it... just like any other health routine. If you dont give 100%, you will never get the best results you can.

p90x is a gay fad. paying for a program is even gayer. use your brain, make something of your own thats tailored to your needs and put 100% in and you'll get great results. who cares about "teh pump" or "teh burn"? put some weight on the bar and lift heavy instead of doing 500 curls and calf raises.

P90X is designed to work you HARD. Yes a person can probably design a very good program on their own, but P90X is designed to strengthen you in every way...not just how you look or how big your muscles are. Some people look really ripped but when it comes to actual strength and endurance can't do crap. P90X kicks your butt every time and turns you into a machine. Maybe not the greatest program for bodybuilders or people who want to gain massive size...but don't discredit it and what it can do before you try it.
And I'm not saying that you or anyone else isn't capable of creating a program that can't do the same thing....but not everyone has the time or the know-how to do that.

love it
ive hadit for about 2 mths but didnt really have time 2 do it now im in the second week and atleast i have noticed some suttle changes i dont really like working out at home so i loaded all the weight lifting dvds to my zune and i just listen to them at the gym and follow along that gives me many more options to chose from when selescting dumbbells without having to by them.

Enjoying P90X
Just finished week 5. I enjoy the workout and feel much stronger. You have to be pretty consistant to get the benifits out of the workout. Only got off schedual once, and just started that week over insted of moving forward. I have a lot of work to do, looking forward to next week.

It works. U weight train every other day and do cardio every other day. Its really hard, but its worth it. I hated it at first, but I love it now. At first I couldn't even do half the reps in Ab Ripper X and now I can keep up with all of them. Same with all the other dvds. Its definitely worth it. Pm me if u want more info.

Thoughts on P90x..
This is what I have been telling people for the past 4 months when they ask me what I did to get such dramatic results. I tell them that I have been doing something called P90X and it have gotten me in the best shape of my life. It is so easy for me to talk about this because I know that most people want to be in great shape and that me as a Beachbody Coach will do what I can to help you get there. Good luck in your journey!
