Feel free to ask questions, and if you live in the North West Georgia, or C hatanooga area, and you want to join I can give you the number of my recruiter.

Best of luck to you bro. You'll have some of the best experiences of your life in the Corps. Sounds like you have the right mindset, and you look physically up to the challenges to come. Granted, PI won't be fun!

Quick math. . . $6,000 over four years, hack off taxes. . .comes out to around $100/month. And how's that promotion rate in the Air Force?

You get your bonuses half up front(taxed) then the rest of the bonus is paid throughout your enlistment.
I wish I got a bonus.

I joined last year after being bored of college, wasn't the right thing for me at the time, so I dropped out after fall semester and enlisted in Jan '07, left for boot March '07 and not more than a year after I joined, I'm being deployed to the sand box. I'm an 0481 Landing Support Specialist (LS/Red Patcher), and my job is fun, I enjoy the thrill of getting under a helo and hooking up cargo with 175+ mph winds pushing down on you, its a rush. Now the working parties when we aren't doing that, well, they aren't so great, but still worth doing. I'm not a grunt, but right now I'm a gunner on a 240 in Afghanistan, and that's close enough to it I think.
And I'm in afghanistan right now, and we just lost 2 of our boys a few days back, and its heart wrenching, but still, i don't think i would have changed my mind about joining. I have ****ed up along the way, and am still paying for it, but that's just a part of life and you have to roll with it. I stand by my decision to have joined the Corps, even though its a time of war and people are dying.

And what is that reason.
If a major reason to join was money, you joined for the wrong reasons.

They need to offer money to get people to join. The Marines don't have that issue.... atleast as much, this is the first time I've heard of a enlistment bonus for the Marines.
And joining for the money is definitely not a good reason to join.

That's Right....because people join the Marines to be Marines... If we offered the same bonuses as the Army then we wouldn't be The Few and The Proud. it would just be another branch.

Uh cause that's just how they do it, and I got it all up front none of this paid thrughout your enlistment crap.
There is a two year enlistment package, but they don't offer a bonus. most people don't go with this becuse it doesn't give you much time to do anything in the Corps where things like promotion are slow enough as it is.
It is a good package if you just want to serve your country for a little while and get some good military training, it will fly by too believe me.
