number 3 is a good all around exercise and probably safer for a beginner. JMO

I have a bit of concern with 1, 2 and 4. From the looks of it, it may look like you could injure your lower back, and I tend to have pain down there. Are those safe at all or with light weights?

yes they are...
Just go light until you figure out form and strengthen all the muscles used

only problem with just doing 3 is that its not going to do much for your lower back. if you do at least one of the others with light weight, you will at least get some work there, even though they arent primarily lower back exercises.

I started out doing BB rows, but luckily I never hurt myself and my hard headed arrogance never got the best of me...
After 13 years and maturing.. I know not to just jump into something without studying it..

Number 3 is probably the safest for a beginner, try to pull the DB to your waist and start with a light weight and really try to feel your muscles working.
That being said I love BB rows.

What about wide grip chins? That's what I started out with. I didn't start doing bb rows until about 9 months after I started. By then, I had decent wide lats and was ready to do intense training.

Number 3 would be the best for a beginner as previously stated. Remember to focus on pulling from the elbow rather than wrist, and really visualize squeezing your back. It may not seem like much, but doing so has a great benefit.
Seat cable rows or machine rows would also be another great beginners exercise.

Honestly try BB rows with a light weight. I think these are a staple of any back workout.
