When I was at raw last night and we were doing some small promotion for altitude pro wrestling academy I seemed to get the same response alot. "I didnt even know that there was a school here". Please use this thread to post the location of your wrestling school and their contact info. please keep all other responses to a min. as I am hoping that this may be a quick and easy reference for others to find a school near them!

A great guy who knows a ton about the business is Jeff Anderson. He does classes every week, and if you live in the East Tennessee region then I would highly suggest him. You can get ahold of him through http://www.myspace.com/iamthewildman

Wow, Jem Palmer is back in the wrestling forum.

There was a cartoon called Jem when I was a kid. The main character Jem was a girl that had a duel life as the head of a company and a rock band. She had pink hair in her Jem persona.

This has nothing to do with you really other than the name being the same. I'm just giving out useless info.

PWO is based in Cleveland OH. I didn't see anything about them training people however.

The school is a bit expensive but really isn't all that bad when you consider all of the extra stuff that is associated with being a student there.

sXeWarrior, what part of Ohio do you live in? Reason I ask is because Louisville is in the northern portion of Kentucky and isn't that bad of a commute from parts of Ohio as north as Dayton.

You have to be very careful in chosing a wrestling school to go to. You have to be dedicated and have patients above anything else, and of course professionalism. Too many schools will train you, just so you can work their shows which are nothing by 8 weapons matches and 2 matches nobody knows what they are doing in. On top of that you have promotions where guys think because they have been around for 15 years working the same town once a month, they are a veteran and can call shots. There are many errors in Independent Wrestling. There are many good small named promotions as well though.
Basically go to one of the shows, see if its something you like. If you have size and you think you can be on TV, look into a school with a history to it and a good reputation. WXW in Pennsylvania has an incredible list of people they trained, and the classes are lead by Afa "The Wild Samoan" and helped out by many great workers. Harley Race has/had a good school, as well as Dory Funk. Reputation is the key thing to look at. If you are looking into a school where half the roster is in jeans and a shirt, you are going to be mislead and beat your body up for years, and have very little the show for it.

PWO is a great promotion with good exposure too w/DirecTV/STO, but I don't think they have a training facility just yet. I am sure they will eventually though.

Dont know really anything about these, just a reference for ya. Im not sure if hes still working but if you get to train with les thatcher, that would be my reccomendation! have worked with him in the past (he has done multiple seminars for us (APWA)) If you know the biz, les is one of the main guys to learn from!
