Thats awesome to hear that you are able to do a show with no cardio. I do very little cardio but my diet is def not perfect...That gives me some motivation to eat clean!!!

I gained 10 lbs of muscle
from November to April I was on gain phrase. I loved!!!! Eat, eat and eat.
I gained 10 lbs of muscle with a 1/4 of fat.
I ate 2200 cal a day (or more sometimes) doing 30 minutes of cardio twice a week. I love the program OT-Max ( http://www.ast-ss.com/max-ot/max-ot_intro.asp). The diet is crap (too much supplements) but the weight program is fantastic. Good luck, Mariana.

I do a lot of cardio - everyday as well as lifting 3 times a week+
Just come off 2 months of cardio only.
I currently do run around 15+ miles per week including HITT and longer endurance runs.

Right now I'm doing 45 mins of cardio 4 - 5 times a week but I'm trying to lean out (and have a good amount of fat to lose). I'm thinking of switching it up and replacing 2 of those days with 20 mins of HIIT though.

i do about 3 or 4 45 minute steady sessions or with hill training involved on the good ol' eliptical trainer and i do HIT once a week. but...i'm also on the "fattier" side of the scale right now. when i'm bulking up, i usually only do cardio for about 20 minutes 2 or 3 times a week, steady sessions, just to keep my cardiovascular health in check.

Hi there,
I think that doing abs 5 times per week is over training the area and you are not as likely to see the gains you want there. You should be ok with just 1-2 ab sessions per week.
All body parts should be trained once a week so as to give them a break. The exceptions are abs and calves. Obviously we are all different and there may be people who train their other body parts more than once per week, but the general rules are that once a week is enough and abs and calves can handle a little more because of the nature of the muscle tissue and the way that they are used so often in day to day life. They generally work better with higher reps than the other muscle groups, regardless of gain or cutting phases...I do between 15 and 25 sets for both calves and abs and for abs I use 2 sets and use about 6 different exercises to hit upper and lower abs and the obliques.

i'm a similar weight/height to you and i'm trying to increase my muscle mass. i only do 2 sessions of 30 minutes of HIIT. a few times in the past month i've swapped one HIIT session for steady state but i never exceed 50 minutes during any one session. i'll save the daily cardio for trimming the fat once the muscle is ready to show! hope that helps.

yeah i have the same problem with cardio too.....i think i posted with you before on this...we're one of the same i want to tone up as well and I do about 1.25-1.75 a day also seven days a week, but i got soo tired from it so now im just going to cut about 10 minutes off of that a time and try to focus more on lifting and clean eating and making sure to take arest day or at least do pilates on the day I don't do any cardio, i only eat about 1800 cals and i'm 6-1 and 158-160 lbs i know i need to eat more too, but im working on that also, i need to be in it for the long haul. bc i've learned that if you overdo you eventually binge and then you feel like ****! im learning but also as a recovering anorexic it takes a while!

Ohhh!!! We usually head to Hatteras that week in August. Prices have gone way up so if we don't, I will definitely be there! That would be so cool. I've never been to a comp either.
