LOVE crossfit. Had to quit it though, it was beating up on me too bad. If you continue crossfitting you NEED tons of carbs or you'll die.
6 weeks of CF increased my squats and deads about 60 pounds without doing either...

I clear out the Dunkin' Donuts shelves at our store on base after those workouts that leave you shaking. Gotta find another post workout treat thats doesn't leave me feeling guilty afterwards. Any suggestions?

stupid donuts....Well, the past week my post workout meal has been fish/chicken and sweet potato. I really don't have the carb/food cravings I had when I first started crossfit. Although I'm still sore all the time, I seemed to have come to terms with the workouts and my food.
I've been packing my meal to workout with me so I can eat as soon as I'm done working out.
edit: you're in japan, eat some tuna sushi! that would be an awesome postworkout meal as long as you got enough protein.

New workout idea!
WOD
3 rounds for time:
Swim 400m
Catch tuna fish
20x overhead squats w/ caught tuna
Max rep of pullups w/ tuna
*use KBar to slice up fish for post workout meal*
Any takers?!

CrossFit rocks.
That's all I have to contribute to this thread, unfotunately. I started CrossFit about 8 months ago, and I've never looked back. Love it, love it, love it.

curious about the carbs? Could this be what I am looking for to eat my carbs and get lean, keep muscle, get muscle??
I know you were kind of joking, but can you (or anyone) give an example of the type of diet you were keeping while on crossfit and leaning out?
I am female BTW.
thank you.

The "official" Crossfit diet is The Zone:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zone_diet
Pretty much all the hardcore Crossfitters follow this diet. The official Crossfit site has several free articles on how to do the Zone while Crossfitting, if you search around. Here are a couple:
http://www.crossfit.com/journal/libr...ue21_May04.pdf
http://www.crossfit.com/journal/libr...Full_Issue.pdf
here's one written by a female Crossfitter on the Zone. Worth it just for the picture:

I have been crossfitting for about 1 month now and I think it is great. I feel stronger and have so much more stamina and endurance.
Isn't that zone diet low low carbs no sugar?
I know after every workout I require carbs to make myself feel right.
What type of supplements if any do you guys take?
I take controlled labs green mag for post and purple wrath for pre. They work great. Lots of energy and focus.

Can anyone give me some pointers on getting my GF into this? I'd like to start doing crossfit with her. She's into Tae Bo though, and I don't really like the idea of working out to Billy Blanks, not that there's anything wrong with it...but come on....I'm a man heh.

No, it's moderate carbs. The split is 40/30/30 (Carbs, protein, fat).
I thought it sounded funny at first, but when I went on the Zone, I lost ten pounds of fat the first month while gaining in strength and mental focus.
Since then, it's all leveled out, but my fat loss progresses steady.
Read the book "Mastering the Zone" - it gives a good description of the diet. Sugar is discouraged, but not banned.

I've been CrossFitting for about a year. I LOVES it! It's introduced me to so many things that I never would have tried on my own from all of the oly lifting to the gymnastic skills (working on that muscle up!). We've also got a pretty good strength bias going on at our affiliate so we also do a lot of basic barbell work, which is fantastic.
I just noticed this is a super old thread. I wonder if there are many on the boards that still integrate CrossFit into their programs?

I sooooo love the idea of crossfit; it's like the perfect combination of exercises. I've 'heard' that they don't emphasize form that much (especially for technically critical olympic lifts) but not sure if that's true. Either way, i hope to join once i'm done school. I can't afford it now!

I joined a Crossfit gym a few weeks ago and love it!! I've never been pushed so hard in my life. Not to mention I'm learning all kinds of new lifts.

Looooooooooove CrossFit! I cycle in a series of CF workouts every 6 weeks for 4 weeks to avoid plateaus and get some strength gains. I usually just sign-on to the site and *attempt* to do what they've got posted for the day, but also have my ol' standby of 10-to-1's with deadlifts, clean and press, and push-presses that I do once a week. I try to get that done in less than 12 mins and am DEAD when I'm done with that particular workout, but NOTHING else has gotten me so toned and defined as fast as CF has, and that's with workouts that never last more than 15 minutes tops.
I'd love to get my certification in it but the classes are impossible to get in, plus they cost an arm and a leg!
