But to suggest people who wear jeans aren't serious about their workout? What the hell? I think if you are judging what someone else is wearing at the gym, then YOU ARE THE ONE not serious about the workout.
Do you busybodies REALLY worry about what people wear at the gym? I bet a bunch of you ladies lose sleep over that don't you? I bet these "gyms" you go to don't allow grunting either huh. ROFL
Yes, I wear jeans when I work out. NO, I don't go to a gym, because honestly, I think people go to them to be noticed rather than work out, and posts like this kind of prove it to me.
No, my jeans don't "restrict" my movement, I can squat just fine with them, and the rivets haven't damaged any of my equipment in the years I've been using them.
Unbelievable attitudes here. I guess everyone just has different priorities. I work out to get stronger and bigger, not to participate in a fashion show.
|
LOL serious? The point is that most jeans are restricting, not-breathable, and seem damn uncomfortable. It has nothing to do with the look, it's the fact that it's not really appropriate gym attire! Okay, i can see some loose jeans for an occasional workout, but when i see people wearing them at my gym, they're pretty form fitting. That's good that you have loose fitting jeans, but i have never experienced a pair of jeans i would be able to comfortably squat in, and that was the point. ...fashion show? wtf?

I think his point is people here are complaining/ridiculing/judging people who wear jeans to the gym. In reality it has absolutely no effect on anyone here.
If I went into the gym and started working out naked so it'd be more "comfortable" who here would complain? After all it'd be the most non-restricting, breathable, and comfortable.
With that I've a business idea... Nude Gyms anyone?

Yeah you just contradicted yourself. First you say it has nothing to do with the look, then immediately after say it's not "appropriate" attire. Seems my "fashion show" comment was right on.
It's a gym.... the reasons people should go to a gym are blood, sweat, and iron. Not to spend time at an aesthetically pleasing environment. And even if someone wears jeans that are too form fitting...so what? How does that effect you or anyone else there in any way? (aside from damaging the equipment, which again, I've never seen or experienced ever)
What next? Gyms that kick people out and revoke memberships for grunting because it can be seen as offensive to some busybodies? Oh wait....that's already happening.
My point is that it's a gym, not a day spa. If you can't handle it, shut it and go sign up with Curves.

There is almost nothing worse than sweating in a pair of jeans. It is so uncomfortable! I can't imagine working out in jeans...as I can barely walk outside and sweat in them
Yuck.
Seriously, the thought makes me shudder. hahaha

I'm saying it's not appropriate based on your average person's idea of comfortable. It's not like i said "omg look at mr gucci, what is this? the runway?", i just said it look uncomfortable. Calm down.

a certain % of guys who wear jeans are definitely the "upper body only" types. jeans/wife beater/bandana on head/tats
on occasion even "full body" guys wear jeans or even khakis on upperbody days
Its funny, u wouldnt think mens clothes would be scrutinized so much....but I have gotten comments no matter what I have worn to the gym. Like if u actually wear matchign colors or something, soem guy with holy shorts and a stained wife beater cant resist makign some comment. (yes, somewhat redneckish gym at times)
I get comments because I wear some light cologne....I guess its more appropriate to just outright stink in a gym? Im sure my clients would appreciate it.
I did basically, in a nice way, tell one of my clients he needed to wear a different pair of sweats or soemthing....that his current pair made one wonder exactly where all those stains came from and what they were etc, lol. It was my nice way oof implying "u look like u pissed yourself multiple times dude". Basically I told him I had some matches if he wanted to burn them.

As long as you don't dump it on yourself before you head out of the locker room. I swear some guys at my gym do, and a couple times i ended up having a horrible workout becuase i couldn't breathe.

And for the record....contrary to popular belief, cologne does not hide the smell of B.O. *gag*

lol, I dont even understand anyone being anti-cologne. I just simply dont get it. Ill let it go though, lol
I work a full time job...then I come home and shower/shave/deodorant/cologne b4 the gym. I am sure thats too much for people to handle so I apologize. Maybe id be better off to keep it real and just come train people with 8-10 hrs of work smell on me. I mean, ANYTHING would be better than smelling nice

As long as the smell isn't too strong I'd imagine its all good... I usually wear a scented deodorant... It smells nice, but to actually smell it ya gotta be within kissing/hugging distance.

Isn't it the case the you have a variety of smells so you can concentrate on the cologne rather than the festering cheese.

That would be a sight to see...but I bet they'd be wearing a lot less than they do if they didn't have to worry about the mower throwing up rocks and sticks and God knows what the heck else. They might be a little concerned about sun exposure too. I don't see a lot of people wearing jeans while they're sweating out summer days around here unless they work outside and don't want to be dragging their naked legs through brush or something like that. It's more about protecting the skin than comfort in those cases (just my opinion, of course).

No it's not either the cologne or the bad smell...... It's both combined for a double touchdown slam on my nose.

It's definitely crazy, but I can understand why men might wear jeans over women, since most men go to the gym to lift, while women lift and tend to do more cardio.
I've lifted in jeans at home when I wanted a quick workout and was crunched for time. I've also lifted in my underwear. Ha!!

I've worn jeans a few times on upperbody days. Never when I was running. But Honestly I dont sweat much, and for sure my legs don't sweat in jeans. "I work outside all the time all day with a long sleeve shirt and jeans. I can run 2miles in close to twenty mins barely breaking a sweat. Some people are different, not every guy sweats alot. My white ass legs are more distracting than me wearing jeans.

Again, I don't know what the deal is here. Even on my leg days jeans are no problem, they don't hinder me in any way. Then again, I don't do lunges, that's the only thing I can think of being a prob with em.
As far as sweating....well you'll sweat no matter what you are wearing hopefully. Don't see what the big deal about sweating in jeans is. People do it all the time. Refer to my yardwork example in an earlier post.

I only see men in jeans, and I see at least one to two everyday. I've even seen a guy in work clothes!! I just can't imagine wearing either. I like to be comfortable and have nothing holding me back.

I think it depends on what muscle group you're working out. I've been crunched for time and had to work out in uniform on my lunch break ... not exactly my choice of workout attire.
I'll lift anything but legs in that case, and that's b/c you can't lunge in boots.
Other than that, I don't usually notice what other people wear at the gym.

x2. I actually thought of this thread yesterday when I was walking home and cursing myself for wearing jeans. I was sweaty, and they were sticking, and it was gross.

Working out in underwear is the best! I'm much more comfortable with the less amount of clothing I'm wearing when working out.
