I included one movement from my shortened back wo yesterday
BACK:
ASSISTED CHINS: -130x12, 2x-120x10, -110x10, -100x3/-110x2, -100x2/-110x3
I so suck on this exercise. Ha!
LEGS:
BB SQUATS:3x45x5(BAR)
My knee was hurting a little, so I took it easy on the squats, just used the bar and worked on form. I did not bring my camera today, but I will record my squats again in the near future. I think I broke parellel (at least I hope so!) and I warmed up on the leg extension - very lightly, 3 sets of 30x10.
LEG PRESS:90x12, 3x270x10, 360x10
I took it easier on these today ... again, because my knee was acting up. It's better to be safe than sorry!
LEG EXTENSION:80x12, 100x10, 120x10, 140x5/160x5 (PR)
PR on the leg extensions. Yay! I wish I could squat this much!
[u]SLDL:45x12, 55x10, 65x10, 75x10, 2x95x5
I went easy on weight ... again to work on my form. The heavier you go, the harder it is to keep the bar close to your body, lol. There were a few instances where I bent my knees too much ... making it more like a regular deadlift. I have to watch that.
LAY DOWN LEG CURLS:4x60x10
Working those hammies
SIT DOWN CALF RAISES:45x25, 55x20, 65x20, 75x20
These burn so much!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Updates are a few days away. EEK! My diet has been so not good for the past several months that it is not going to be pretty when we weigh in and takes pics. But I'm not giving up!
Glad you're better, Keto!
Jade - most protein powders are pretty disgusting! I have to mask the taste with milk, fruit and yogurt, lol.
Marvel - amazing workouts as usual! You are so strong!
rdf - gl on your comp .. you look great and I know you'll nail it!
Have a nice night Glamazons!
Okay I am better now. I am back in the game. Went to the beach yesterday- first time I have been out of the house since getting sick, and I got fried. I am like a crispy bacon strip. Speaking of bacon strips- while I was sick my keto diet slacked big time. I ate what everyone served me in bed... and hoped to keep it down. Anyway here am I. Ready to go again.
Whatever I had had me down for about 8 days. One day I thought I was better and I wasnt, ugh.
Thanks for askin about me Jadesky.
Glad you are feeling better Keto!! I know you can work through this challenge and get right back on the low carb horse! How's your daughter doing with her program?
Good job on those leg extensions Penney - woohoo for your PR!!! That squat is not far behind - you're making great progress!!
I'm not looking forward to the May Update either... I'm about ready to hurl my Tanita bf scale out of the window as of this morning. It says I've lost pounds and yet my bf% is stuck. Now I have missed a few workouts this month because of work crap, but I know I've lost inches off my belly - I can actually fit in size 12 now (major achievement for me, since I was 16 pushing 18 when we started this in Jan). And I know I haven't lost muscle per se, so the stupid thing must be wrong. I will try again Thursday - I'm just using it for relative measuring since I'm so fat the actual % doesn't matter so much to me, as does the number going down relative to last months - and it hasn't budged phoooey! So I'm ordering some calipers from bb.com to see what they say. I'm too embarrassed to ask at the gym. I'm the fattest girl in my gym. I've decided that in the first week of June I will finally ask them for the 'assessment' thing that you can do at the YMCA and get set up on FitLinxx so they can track your progress etc. All the other women who go there are tiny and so are the trainers. I'm just embarrassed, I hope when I've lost another 10lbs or so I will have more confidence to go sign up for a couple of classes. I'd like to do Karate or something like that (never done any kind of martial arts), but I think I'll look like the the Michelin man in the white suit. Seems to be my neighborhood or something, I haven't seen anybody else fat even walking their dog around here. Anyway, sorry to ramble on... Just mad that the bf% didn't move...
I also have about 2 weeks to our 2year wedding anniversary (May 12) - the 'wedding suit challenge' - I want to make sure those pants are big on me!!
I know someone thats 400lbs and they take karate classes and are good at it, high kicks in all O_O. So don't feel afraid of going and trying it out. I wanted to join kickboxing when I get down to 180. Something I always wanted to do and something my bro and I used to do to let out anger
Thanks for sharing your gym experiences - I really appreciate it...
MCG Yes, you should do kickboxing, I think you would be awesome at it!! It's funny that we feel we should wait to get to a certain number to be able to do an activity isn't it? I don't know why that is... I've told myself that if (when!) I get to be really slim/fit, I would do ballet again, just because I could... Want to try the Karate type stuff first though, high kicks sound fun!!
IronIc Great job on your step(sweat ) class!! I know we ladies may be bigger, but I do know those quads in our legs can go for a lot longer than some of the cardio bunnies I see in the gym. One time, I was on the recumbent bike (knee issue still there) and I was doing an hour or so, and had it on level 11 (which is the pace I need to make my HR in the right zone - I realize its not a high level), and the girl next to me who was a tiny little thing (thin and no muscle), was on level 2 or 3, and she saw me on level 11, and bumped hers up to match, and really she couldn't even turn the pedals... and quickly turned it back down. So many people zone out during cardio, and watch the little TVs, I have to switch mine off, because I can't concentrate on the intervals, but I've had so many gym staff come up to me, and say 'don't you know how to turn the TV on...' duh...
RDF803 I think that's great that you find inspiration from the guy at the gym, consistency is half the battle I think... As MCG mentioned - your arm avi is so cool What day is your contest? I will say a prayer and think about you!!
I AM one of the biggest people at my gym and funny but... even I find admiration and motivation when I see OTHER 'biguns in my gym too. I always smile at them and talk to them and offer to help.
THANK YOU! It will be a long while before I enjoy chicken again, that much I promise! Brkfst was okay... had a beef patty toppped w cheese and mushrooms, scrambled eggs, a side of cucumber and a big vitamin shake. It was suggested I take some green tea and probiotics, so I will get that done before I walk out the door for the day.
My daughter had a hard time keeping on the diet while I was sick. We both just got all jacked up. But we are doing better now that I am well and back to doing the shopping. Its been so hard to get her running around done as far as the DMV, job seeking, finger printing required to work as a CNA in Florida, and so many other things on her agenda that its been difficult for me to plan our meals as we seem to be on the road so much lately. For example we stopped and got a shake at Sonic yesterday. , but overall we are getting back on track.
Seattle Half-Marathon: November 29 (48 Days and Counting)
#1: Oatmeal, 2 tsp brown sugar, 2 tbsp flaxseed
#2: 1 chicken breast, 1 cup brown rice, 1.5 cup mixed veggies
#3: 1 oz raw almonds, 6 cubes cheese
#4: 1 salmon steak, 1 cup brown rice, 1.5 cup mixed veggies
#5: Shake (2 scoops Isopure, 1 cup raw strawberries, 8 oz whole milk)
All in all, not too bad. I know my carbs are a bit high ... I need to tweak a little. I also need about 200 more calories ... up the fat some!
Is it just me, or is Isopure just gross? I have a little left and I really need to finish it off because it's expensive, but I'm not buying any more. Soy tastes so much better! Whey is nasty :gag: Even with the yummy berries and whole milk, my shake tastes funny.
SHOULDERS:
DB Shoulder Press: 15'sx12, 3x20'sx10, 25'sx5/20'sx5
This is a hard exercise, but I love it so much.
BB Upright Row: 40x12, 50x10, 3x40x10
Tonight was one of those "ruh-roh" nights ... the 50 lb BB was heavy. I had to drop. Darn it!
Standing DB Lat Raises: 8x10'sx5
I still can't do 10 straight reps with the 10's ... but I refuse to drop to the 8's. Someday my shoulders will get stronger!
TRICEPS:
DB Overhead Extension: 3x20'sx10, 2x25'sx5
I love this exercise, and it is another difficult one. I get really good DOMS every week from these!
Rope Extensions: 3x35x10
Good job Penney!! And great eats too!! I haven't tried Isopure - I do *like* (I use the word lightly ha ha) the EAS Whey protein I have in choc - better than the ON one IMHO... Heard good things about Syntha Nectar (cappuccino flavor I think) and Matrix (Cookies n' cream) but they are more pricey I think...
I'm just syaing a quick hi. my training has been very sparse (only lifted twice in april, and did hiit about twice too) but I went lifting again last night.
I got an accidental PB on my bicep curls, because I forgot to change the weight after tricep pushdowns, lol! so that was good. my cousin's funeral, and memorial etc. will be this weekend. so I'm hoping after the bank holiday I'll get some proper rest, get my head straight and get back on track re diet and training I will have set myself back from reaching my goals, but I guess real life just 'happends' sometimes, eh?
MCG I just wanted to say that you are really making progress in your pics - look at your tummy - totally shrinking!! All that muscle under there!! Good job, even with April not being pleasant!! I'd rep ya again, but gotta spread it around first
You can do this Jenn!! Keep going!!
Contest is this Saturday! I can't wait! Or can't wait to get it over with, anyway. :-D Here's what the next 72 hours looks like: I started reducing my fluid intake today, as well as taking diuretics to get rid of the extra water weight. (I'm being super careful, though, and first sign of dizziness or anything else that isn't right, I will be downing some agua.) Tomorrow and Saturday I just take sips of water as needed--just enough to get my food down. I get to add starchy carbs back into my diet starting tonight, so I'm super excited about that! That's supposed to fill up my muscles. Hope it works! I did my last weight workout yesterday, and my last cardio workout will be today...will be so happy to rest tomorrow!
I went to my hairstylist (and very good friend) yesterday and had her dye my hair auburn--feels cool to be a redhead. I feel sassy! I saw Ashlee Simpson's new haircolor when she did an appearance on Dancing with the Stars last week and decided that color would be the perfect complement to my suits and would probably make my eyes pop, too. It did! I start the contest color painting tomorrow morning...I think that is when reality will really set in. I'm sure my husband will enjoy painting me all over. :-D
I'm going to take my progress pics in the morning before I start contest color and get them posted on the other thread, but I'll post a couple of my contest pics on here to show you gals how it all turned out! Thanks SOOOO much for all of your support--couldn't have done it without my husband and you gals--you're the best!
Hee hee - yeah asparagus is definite superfood! Prep wise I guess it depends if you like the taste or not I can eat it raw in a salad, steamed in the micro, and sauteed with a tsp of olive oil (I never use salt on anything - I don't care for the taste), just remember to chop the 'wood' off the bottom before you prepare it.
I steam my other veggies in the microwave, so I may give it a shot with those, too... couldn't hurt to try! My hubby doesn't like asparagus, and I never liked the way it smelled, so we have just never kept any at the house. I finally tried it at a friend's house last fall and REALLY liked it, though. I'm just afraid it won't taste right when I make it. As long as I can get it down, that's all that matters. And thanks for the link, too!
I'm sure you'll learn to love it To me, it doesn't taste too different than other veggies or smell any worse than broccoli when cooking...(which seems to stink up the whole house in our place anyway). You might try sauteing in a little olive oil (medium heat) if you don't like the smell, that's probably the most 'restaurant' style of prepping it.
Anyway, always good to add new whole food sources of amino acids and vitamins to the diet
Didnt have time, again, to eat much today- however, I did consume a few bites of chicken breast and some lettuce w cucumber.
I got word today that my gym membership has been renewed- so I will be back in the gym for a year this time around, yippee!
I bought a grill tonight, so I am ready for summer time. I cook outdoors every night that weather permits during the summer.
I plan to hit at least 299 by the end of May- Lord bring me thru.
It did! I start the contest color painting tomorrow morning...I think that is when reality will really set in. I'm sure my husband will enjoy painting me all over. :-D
I'm going to take my progress pics in the morning before I start contest color and get them posted on the other thread, but I'll post a couple of my contest pics on here to show you gals how it all turned out! Thanks SOOOO much for all of your support--couldn't have done it without my husband and you gals--you're the best!
Auburn... yummy- I love that color... are your eyes blue?
I got word today that my gym membership has been renewed- so I will be back in the gym for a year this time around, yippee!
I bought a grill tonight, so I am ready for summer time. I cook outdoors every night that weather permits during the summer.
I plan to hit at least 299 by the end of May- Lord bring me thru.
I use the EAS as well and love it.
Congrats on the renewed gym membership - that's so nice!! Are you still doing the Zumba class? They've just started offering that at my Y, so I'm thinking about going...
Grilling is the best - enjoy the outdoors!! Also great to marinade beforehand - lots of possibilities... Confident you can do 299 by the end of the month. Go for it!!
Glad you like the EAS protein too, I just bought it in Jan because it was cheap at Sams, and turned out to be pretty good...
Have a wonderful day ladies!!
Thought I`d best pop in and check up on everyone since its been awhile. From the 3 progress photos(so far), it looks like things are going great! I agree with everyone else, MC..your waist is coming along nicely! Good job!!
And, Jadesky, you just keep getting smaller and smaller! Awesome!!
Good luck with your contest, RD! I`m sure you`ll do fantastic! I`m envious with how lean and long your midsection has become!! Guess it pays to be 5'7"...there is lots more length between your chest and hips, than I have at just 5'3". Ha!
I posted up my update today. I was 'trying' to hold out from the picture taking, as AF is due to arrive, and that whole process really messes with how Lean you look and feel. But, since I`m not crazy about going too far into the following months progress time, I bit the bullet and just went ahead and snapped the photos this morning. At least I did all my weighing and caliper testing last week, so those numbers reflect more of my current progress, than todays pictures are capable of doing. I should have taken the time to snap the pictures, last week, as even I was amazed at how Lean I looked! But, as usual, I had to dash off to work and had no extra time to change into my posing clothes or I would have been late. Oh well...by next week, I`ll look lots leaner and I can take better photos and at least post them up in my profile.
Can`t wait to see the rest of the Glamazon`s updates!
Have a great Friday!
