Suicidal due to results
Hey Guys,
I came here a month ago all excited, pumped and ready to get in shape.
After spending 20 years being over weight I really wanted it to work this time.
So here's what happened.
I followed this plan as best I could
http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/kelly3.htm
I changed my Diet - Lots of Tuna, Brown Bread, Rice
I did a heap of Cardio, Jogging up hill, trying to keep my heart rate up alot
I lifted heavy and often
And here's the Result
1 Month ago I was 109kg, 239.8 lbs ( 6 foot, 21 years, Dont know my BF% )
Today I am 116kg, ( 255.2 lbs )
How on earth could I have put on ****ing 7 KG, This doesn't make any sense.
Should I go consult a doctor or something? Because I am seriously upset at the results, My Body doesn't look any different ( maybe a little bigger ).
It hurts so damn much that after all this effort, even though it was only a month, all those early mornings jogging, all those ' Sorry I cant eat Pizza ' and hardly eating anything I put on a massive amount of weight.
What I cant understand is , for the past 20 years Ive put on SLOWLY 2kg a year, so over a peroid of 12 months eating fatty foods and not exercising I put on a small 2kg, yet when I actually try, exercise, work out ect I put on all this extra weight.
Please tell me this is normal -_-

Got any before/after pictures? Sometimes you *think* there isn't a positive difference.

Me a Month Ago
Now I look exactly the same but with bigger arms and less chest fat. Yet I'm still heavy as ****.
I want to be skinny.
My Diet - Tuna on Toast Every Day, Usually some fruit inbetween.
Dinner Varies - Usually healthy stuff like Casarole and lots of Veggies.
I've had like one ice cream this week, and a Pizza 2 weeks ago.

Did you eat a lot before bed? Did you starve yourself? Did you work out at all?(i hope so)
These play a huge factor in weight. If you starved yourself your body will get used to prolonged periods of time without nourishment, thus storing energy as fat.
If you notice fat gains then I can see why you're upset, but if you've gained only muscle I would be happy.

it honestly looks like you just added muscle and lost a little fat. toss the scale for a while and just really dial in on your diet. and do you only eat twice a day? that is a no no. need to be eating 6 times a day.

What should I be eating 6 times a day though?
I usually live off Tuna and Fruit, I dont have much variety. I also dont have a great deal of money so I can't really go for any special diets.

First thing I thought was "oh crap!" when I read bread and brown rice. They are high in complex carbs and very good for gaining mass and aid muscular development if your protein consumption is high enough.
My guess is you've gained muscle, which is the reason for your jump in body-weight, but also gained over-all mass from the intake of carbs.
You need to reduce your carbs considering you want to lose mass and keep your protein/lean intake high as well as introducing cardio on an empty stomach in the morning, consuming plenty of water.
Don't eat carbs before bed, if you're going to have a carb, make it fruit. Eat carbs before working out for energy, but after the workout think 'lean', you don't want to build mass, you clearly want to lose it.
good luck,
NK.

You put on weight because you ate too much. It's a simple problem. If you ate the same number of calories in snickers and coke or in tuna and brown rice, you'd probably weigh about the same. What that weight actually is, however, is much different. I'd say you've almost certainly gained muscle if you've been working as hard as it sounds like. If you want to lose weight, you need to find maintenance calories for you, then track cals per day (litereally measure and weigh your food if that's the only way you think you can do it). Reduce maintenance by about 300-500 or so and see what happens over about 2-3 weeks. If you lost too little weight, reduce by a little bit more, if you lost too much, increase by a little bit. Find the point at which you lose weight at the desired rate. Weigh yourself regularly and follow the trend.

yeah thats what i was thinking. maybe the extra weight you put on was muscle and you actually lost fat. you need to do bf% now and do it in a months time to see real results.
and why are the pics no longer available.

Your eating two meals filled with mostly veggies and fruit?! No wonder. You must be getting like 1000 calories tops. If you get too low, your body can sense that your starving and cling to bodyfat like its life depends on it (because life WOULD depend on it if you were really starving :P). Your body starts to prioritize for survival and stuff like nails, teeth, hair and skin maintenance go down the sh!thole.
Plus, I'm sorry to say but a month isn't enough time to see appreciable results. Try stepping up your diet to 2000 calories with 40% carb calories, 40% protein calories and 20% calories from fat if possible (there are other ratios out there, do some research if you like). Go to fitday.com or grab Fitday PC becuase they are extremely useful for counting calories and ratios. You are probably going to gain weight at first by stepping up the calories, but once your body adjusts then it will start letting the fat go and you will lose bodyfat. Do lots of cardio and keep at it and things will turn around.
Start taking bodyfat measurements. Start measuring your waist and other body area measurements as well as get some bodyfat calipers and keep track of your bodyfat %.

why people usually fail on a cut : eating too much, or eating too little... both result in terrible results as far as fat loss goes. Figure your diet out and what it takes for you to lose .5-1 lb a week... its been a single month, why the hell are you suicidal you have no reason to be. Stop being emo and do something good for yourself and actually try and figure out whats going wrong by adjusting your diet and training instead of saying you want to die... for **** sake you have it so much better than 99% of folks in the world why would you be suicidal.
