when i really got into full swing with x-reps, it didn't take long to figure out that lower weights were required for the first month or so. not drastically lower, but just enough. it didn't take long to get back to my normal work weights, though. here's an example:
when i decided to give them a try, my 2 normal heavy sets on flat bench were 225 x 8-10. warm up sets of 135 x 15, 175 x 12-15 followed by my 2 heavy sets. having read quite a bit, and trying different exercises (or even just variations of the classics) i anticipated that i would need to drop some weight. i actually went a little too far, though. my first run at x-reps on decline bench, i actually warmed up with (2) 95 x 20. when i went with my "work" sets, i only had 135 on the bar and it seemed like i would never reach failure on the x-reps. still hurt like a mother a couple of days later, but when chest came back around, i went with 185 on my work sets and pulled x-reps on both of them. much better. it was all i could do to get the 8th rep on the second set, and once i started the x-reps, my pecs were on fire.
this was one of the main reason that i told you to play around with your weights when you first start doing them regularly. it'll take a couple of tries, but you'll know when you find the right poundages.
also, i make every effort to avoid lockout completely. not only does it eliminate tension on the working muscle, but it is also hard on the joints. but then again, we all know that already.

Hi. It is been a while since there was no answer to this thread, but I was looking for x-rep training articles on google and I found out this thread about x-rep. Im really looking to go ahead and try it since my last year of training has been not really productive and want to give it a try. I read many articles on bb.com and x-rep.com this morning.
Can somebody send me the ebook so I can learn more from it. My email adress is J_Audet_Dionne@hotmail.com
Thanks you !

All you cheap ass leaches
go buy the damn book. you probably spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on supplements and whatever else you do in your free time and can't cough up $30? It's worth the money if you are looking for a different perspective on a workout program. A supplement may last a month, knowledge will last a life time. Be respectful to the people trying to make a living by empowering you for your self improvement.

feeling puny...
actually, it's not been going well at all. however, life is starting to turn around.
in the past eight months, i've been to the gym three times. at present, fully dressed, my weight is down to 182.5 (from 217 at the end of August). my bmi is up to 19.5 (from 10 at the end of August). i've not taken measurements since then, but all of my clothes are hanging off of me, and when i travel for work and walk into a location that i've not been in for almost a year, i've got people asking me, in all seriousness, if i'm sick. understandable, since i've lost 34.5 lbs, and who knows how many inches.
not to say that my travel schedule (which had been pretty much non-existant the last few months) is going to lighten any more. quite the contrary. since the administrative portion of my latest project is almost complete, we're about to get to the implementation phase, so i'm going to hit the road a little more regularly. however, enough is enough. i've posted a couple of times that i was going to get back into the gym, but have yet to accomplish it. today is the day.
i'll take measurements in the morning, and i'm going to start a new thread tracking my progress. keep in mind that the first couple of weeks will be slow reading. i want to build up gradually, but as quickly as i can stand. once i get back into the swing of things, i'll go with a "x-rep only" program, mixing up the routine every six to eight weeks. i'm going to rely on feedback and input from you guys (preferably other members that are using x-reps, as opposed to these cheap asses that just want free information).

I started with the Workout-Plan on Page 65-66. Starting last Saturday with the day "Friday" - the full body workout. That workout really kicked ass !!!
I will keep you updated.
