the best answer
I learned the best hangover cure while working at Compusa long long ago. We had so many people coming in on Sunday for morning mettings completly hungover that something had to he done. The solution, FRIED CHICKEN. Something about the oils and such that soaks up the booze.

Well i know it doesn't really help for most of us because we try to eat clean. One of the biggest hangovers I ever had was almost cured by going to dennys and having as much water as my body can hold. When you drink you actually get dehydrated so the water takes care of that. Denny's food is quite greasy and fatty which somehow helps a hangover...if anyone knows any science to it please do.

Train your body by drinking often ahead of time and prevent them alltogether. I didn't have a single hangover my senior year of college no matter how much I drank. I think my body went into survival mode and focused on cleaning up toxins before worrying about anything else.

i never had hangovers too.. for a long long time.
I find dirnking something like gatorade or a fruit juice with a multivitamin before bed prevents them .. as well as eating a nice meal immediately upon awaking.
the multi replenishes vitamins/nutrients that are rapidly lost due to properties of alcohol -- the drink helps re-hydrate the body.. and food in the morning soaks up whatever alcohol is left in the stomach (and is much healthier than food at night ontop of booze)
and of course, being fit doesn't hurt any.. sometimes i find it almost difficult to get drunk and stay drunk off of beer (and not the cheap light stuff either)..guess its cos the body burns through it so quick? i duno... i dont drink much anymore, and when i did in college it was more binge style, combined with other narcotics (glad that part of me is gone!)..

Only two that work are:
1. Don't drink
2. Don't stop drinking

Don't drink cheap liquor or beer. for me if i drink cheap beer like bud or inexpensive liquor, i wake up the next day like a train hit me (sore and sick). When i drink Johnnie Walker or Coronas, i dont wake up feeling like that. Ive gotten drunk off my ass off of "good" liquor and awaken the next morning ready for the gym, like nothing happened.
Ive had friends who only drank cheap beer, and i introduced them to good ol johnnie walker black and ginger ale, instead of cheap bud or miller and they were like "**** i didnt wake up with a hangover or anything"

CORRECT-drinking water after every drink is a sure-fire way to stave off any hangover, but for more realistic people who actually black out and forget:
1. GET YOUR ASS UP and do some morning cardio (w/ a multi-V, BCAA, and some sesamin to make up for that fat you couldnt burn off while your body was processing the alcohol)
2. If that's not enough, get in the sauna and regain your composure!
3. Get over it! doesnt matter what you did last nite, as long as no one lost their lives over it (no kidding); forget the drama..drunk people do more idiotic things their inhibitions are non-existent

A hangover is simply sugar imbalance. When you drink your blood sugar spikes, thats why when you have shots, lots of beer or crappy wine, you can get a worse hangover. The best way to prevent a hangover is to (in no particular order): 1) not drink (but who would really want to do that?) 2) drink better quality alcohol (no boxed/gallon wine) 3) drink 1-2 glasses of water before you go to sleep/pass out 4) puke haha then have some pretzels and SIP on water
if you wake up with a hangover, even though it is based on a sugar imbalance, stay away from sugary drinks such as orange juice and gatorade (made that mistake once or twice for each).. they really upset your stomach especially if you yakked.. if you really want gatorade, dilute it, but a propel is better
as for food, stick to foods generally easy on the stomach such as breads, chicken, or pasta.. keep it simple
I dont agree w/ some people in here saying to take vitamins and supplements or go do cardio (except maybe a light walk).. i especially dont agree to go in the sauna.. when you drink you get dehydrated and going in the sauna could drastically make that worse.. if the hangover is really bad, just get your equilibrium back, and maybe do some light walking.. a lot of movement will make you dizzy and wont let you recover for the next day so you can bust your ass then

My Cure
jpula has it pretty much as I'd do it.
My cure is two-fold. Prep work and aftermath.
Prepwork:
Just before I go to bed after a heavy night out, I take two asperin and at least three BIG glasses of water or as much as I can fit in.
Aftermath:
The next morning I have a greasy, protein-filled breakfast. Fried eggs, bacon, sausages, fried mushrooms - whatever's available and breakfast-like. I avoid toast. I also drink lots of water or some isotonic drink.
Two or three hours after breakfast I'll have a single shot of whiskey to smooth the edges and carry on with the water until I feel I'm hydrated again.
After the whiskey shot I usually feel normal again.

WRONG! Where are your facts that support your "sugar-imbalance" theory?
In reality, hangovers are result form dehydration and poisoning due to the metabolites from the breakdown of ethanol. You fail.

The Cure
Take some aspirin before you go out drinking.
When you get home take some more aspirin before you go to sleep.
When you get up drink plenty of water and take some Vitamin C and E with orange juice and try to have some pancakes they soak up the alcohol like bread.

2. Calcium 500 mg and magnesium 250 mg 2-3 x a day
3. Silymarin (milk thistle), 1 capsule 3 x daily for liver rejuvenation
4. Kudzu (ancient chinese secret : ) ,its a chinese herb) take 500 mg immediately before drinking or directly after.

As far as I can tell, the best cure for a hangover is one of these two choices, depending on your objectives:
1) Sports drinks (Gatorade, etc)
2) Remain drunk.

2. Drink Water will drinking.
3. Eat something with bread or thats greasy while drinking.
4. A friend of mine highly recomends a charcole tablet supplement before drinking.

Are you serious? Have you ever tried to just eat bread if you are drunk? It will make you crazy sick.
The best thing I have found too is to drink at least a glass of water for every drink, so 10 beers = 10 glasses of water, it helps alot beacuse all a hang over really is is dehydration.

Not just bread. Some kind of sandwich or hot dog. The bread helps though.
I like turkey brats these days if I'm drinking. Used prevent a lot of hangovers with 7-11 hot dogs back in College. Roast beef sandwiches (heated) if dogs not available.
