small calves, anyone with experience welcome

let me give you a little background-

Genetically speaking, i don't have the best potential for calves, it would seem... although when you look at Arnold in his 'posing in water up to his knees' days, you would have said the same thing about him, and at 6 2', he was worse off than i am. He ended up with 21 inch calves despite all that though.

It seems that i've tried all kinds of different things for my calves.

Last year i went for four months straight only missing 2 or 3 workouts and did a lot of calf work. I did heavy weights till failure, compeleting anywhere between 8 and 12 sets per workout and averaging 20 sets a week. I'm very anal about form, i see no gain in cheating one's self.

all that 16 weeks yielded was slightly more defined calves. They looke a bit more dense, but not a cm. larger. I then proceeded to try a plyometric routine and ended up with muscle strains behind both knees.......

I've been doing a pump routine based off of james 'flex' lewis' routine... it's only been about 3 and a half weeks, but i'm not feeling or seeing anything different and i'm looking for someone who's got before, after pictures, a calf training log, and/or some proof they know what they did to get nice calves. I suppose the biggest drawback to message boards is a lot of it seems to be heresay, i want something more than that...



I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get a more aesthetically pleasing physique but i tire of reading the same old crap day in and day out.

I've seen things work for clients and i have a lot of knowledge on the topic, but when it does manifest for yourself, none of that seems to matter....

can anyone deliver?


Big question no one seems to be able to answer... if you've had great calf development, how long did it take before you could look down and notice an appreciable difference?

Have you tried hitting them everyday? Try 12 sets of calves with three different machines (seated, standing and leg press). Do them everyday day until you really feel the DOMS.
