I think everyone needs to get off the (Whimpering voice implied) "I'm going to lose to a steroid user" (End whimpering voice) train. If you really think that, bug off, no one's putting a gun to anyone's head here and forcing them to enter. That type of insidious thought will hamper your efforts and write you out of the winner's circle anyway!
Isn't it about individual transformations and people doing their best? Look at it like going to the gym, what the guy doing curls next to you sticks into his arm is his own damn business. Just bust your ass in the gym and we'll see what happens by the end of it. That's the only way to do it!
|
I was'nt "whimpering" at all, just stating an opinion. I have not, nor ever will, "whimper", to anyone on a computer!!!!!!!
The fact remains that people believe different things. I agree with you it is about individual transformations and people doing your best. If someone wants to do their best going the drug route to win a "personal transformation contest" I guess that would be on them and they would have to live with it. I will not be using any illegal substance in my transformation and that is my choice. Will someone who is "using" have better results, probably, but i'll know i was honest with my self and my transformation was a result of my hard work and dedication and not some "substance". I will also be setting a good example to my kids showing them what can be accomplished with out the use of drugs.

Steriods, prohormones and other "juice"
I think everyone has some great opinions...
So here is mine.
This is a tremendous opportunity for everyone.
Whether you win the grand prize or not, the motivation alone is worth it.
I think everyone here is trying to inspire others, which is fantastic!
People will never totally agree on anything. But we do have at least one thing in common.
We all have passion.
Passion for bodybuilding, fitness or just plain old self improvement.
Because of that passion. We at times get critical or emotional.
It's normal, that's how we work. We care, we emote, we are passionate.
That being said...
There is no way for anyone to be sure that the winner(s) will be natural.
Unless they are tested, and even at that, it's hard to test for certain things(like HGH). I am not against steroids or for them. I do not use them.
I will do this contest to the best of my ability. (And yes I do think I have a shot )
I encourage everybody to do the same. Don't worry about what this/that person may or may not be "doing". Just do the best that you can do.
In the end, it's all about you.
How great of a transformation can you pull off?
We already have so many helpful people in this thread, trying their best for themselves and others. More will show up, all are welcome.
Let's continue to exchange ideas and support each other, after all we are now a group, whether you want to be in it or not.
If you are participating or just lurking... you are here.
I challenge each and every one of you to pull of the best transformation possible!
As time runs out, and the final hour approaches...
In the end, what will have you accomplished?

Excellent words.

And there's this to consider:
Many of us are dieting. That can definitely make things ugly.

You're definitely correct. At least from what I've read and heard from various sources. It's ridiculous to expect testing to catch all the drug users. Still, MT would be making a statement if they stated specifically that AAS and prohormones were not allowed. Sure, a statement that might fall on deaf ears, but still.
Anyway, while I (obviously) don't use steroids, I'm not for them or against them. I'm like many others who wish our legal system would butt out of personal choices. Prohibition, interdiction, throwing people in jail isn't what I call a productive or effective strategy.
Wishing everyone the best - juiced and natural alike!

No doubt it's the best thread on the boards! But it's only because of all of you and your dedication to your transformations. It's great to see everyone on here supporting and encouraging one another.
Keep up the great work and keep the positive energy flowing – everyone is training hard and any form of support is always helpful.
You are all an inspiration and the ones that make this possible.
Thanks!

Well...
I am glad to see everyone is into this... I hope that everyone that has entered is prepared to give it their all. That means put down those twinkies and start running! For all of those who hate doing cardio, remember that a cheap bike is a great alternative to the casual "jog" and that swimming and other "extra-curricular" activities are just as good. Just keep the intensity cranked up. Who has made the most drastic changes to their diet and exercise plan?

Not sure about the most drastic, but I've definitely changed my exercise plan. I had been doing a four-on and one-off routine that I took from Jay Cutler's book, CEO Muscle. I wasn't doing any cardio at all.
I'm currently weight training on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, following a low volume program courtesy of Jason Ferruggia. I've also added cardio. Yesterday's workout was 30:00 on the bike and 30:00 on the treadmill.
I've gotten advice from fellow transformers. Definitely appreciate the help. And, as a fan of bodybuilding, I'm reading the various magazines out there. MuscleMag International No. 313 has an article on carb cycling and I'm giving that a look. The author, Steven Stiefel, echoes a lot of what has been offered to me over on my Hydroxycut journal, specifically that dropping calories big time is no good.

Hey guys,
So just a thought, if someone is using gear to get their physique doesn't really affect you. Sure we all want to win, but the real goal of this competition is to improve your phsyique as much as possible for your own health. That's the way I see it.
Anyway, an update, I'm down to about 10% BF and have never felt better!

X's 2 man, you've got the right attitude about this thing!
Anyway... I guess someone out there always has to beat the "(Whimpering Voice Implied)I'm natural and holier-than-thou-art, you evil steoid users are going to hell!(End Whimpering Voice)" drum. Oh well.

Beating a dead horse much fun? Let me give it a go:
Although I'm in favor of legalization of steroid use and I honestly don't care one lick about who's using AAS, prohormones, etc., I also can appreciate the concerns or issues of those who are entering the contest to win and who are completing the work unassisted.
Call it whimpering or whining if you must.
Here's my comparison, however: You have 200 people enter a bicycle race. They're all asked to purchase an item from the bike shop as a prerequisite to participating in the race. Since the rules don't prohibit such a thing, ten, twenty, or thirty people purchase motorcycle engines from the speed shop across the street along with, yeah, a drink bottle from the bike shop.
So that's 190, 180, or 170 people who watch the Hayabusa-assisted competitors race to the finish line ahead of their 10-speed selves as a result of their purchases at the speed shop.
"No one said they couldn't install a motorcycle engine on their bicycle, so it's okay!"
No comparison, right?
Again, I don't care. Juice to the gills. That's not my point. If I had the connection, the money, and the knowledge, I might do a cycle, but given my whack body structure, I'm content to continue the natty thing.
Best wishes to ALL, including users and nonusers, but - and this is my point - don't expect me to confuse drawing attention to an obviously potential discrepancy with whimpering.

I'm going to win this race!
And...
ABOUT WHINING!

TO: MR. STRAHAN
In a "Non Whimpering Voice" : I dont recall anyone saying they were holier than anything. All I said was if you "use" its on you, I'm not going to, and if you do I could care less. I have children who watch what I do and with all the s^&t going on in sports, its hard enough to show them they don't need it to succeed. Thats what I'm tring to do. If it sounds like "whimpering or whining" I really apologize. It sounds to me like your trying to justify to yourself anything you might or might not be doing. Again, sorry for whimpering and whining and being holier than tou. Good luck in the contest.

Good on you, Big Al. You're not whimpering at all, in my opinion.
And while I think it would be best to legalize these drugs, it's not because I believe everyone should be on steroids. Just that the legal system can occupy its time in more productive ways. Like jailing violent offenders versus some guy sitting in a gym or posing in front of a mirror. Give me a break.

Plus, Ronald A. Strahan, not getting in your face at all, but working in an elementary school, well, my tolerance for name calling is zero. Do what you do. I'll just whine about it as I see fit.
No whining about your previous transformation, though:
Awesome.

There is no question that is an impressive transformation (no whimpering, whining or being holier than thou)

Melda,
yes, you can definitely start again. Please just make sure that you complete a minimum four-week transformation as per the rules. Please also be sure to replace your old "Before" photos with your new "Before" photos so that there's no confusion.
Good luck, and thanks for entering.
Victor

|
Fisher has hit the nail right on the head with this post.
Anyone who has entered the contest, started a bodyspace page or who just reads through the threads obviously has a passion for the sport of bodybuilding and that in itself is great.
This is more than just a contest to see who can win the top prize – it is about setting a goal to build muscle, burn fat and get healthy. And yeah, the top prize will be a great reward and the eventual winner will be very deserving, but all the other contestants, especially those who are just looking for some motivation, will walk away with a ton of knowledge and a body they can be proud of.
Thanks,

Hi msusuperman,
It's great to have you on board for the contest! Even though you have been out for a while, I'm sure you've got a great foundation on which to build. Hopefully this contest serves as a powerful source of motivation to get you back on track.
On a side note: I'm glad to see that more and more people are still continuing to enter this awesome contest - and all with the intentions of winning the grand prize and achieving their own personal bests. Keep it up everyone and continue spreading the word about this life-transforming contest. Remember, it's not too late to join!
Jon

There are about 15 new entries per day at this point, with upwards of about 600 contestants right now. It's not gonna be easy!
