the whole ordering for both thing is over rated. i've never done it. i don't think something like that will win you points, but it will sure irritate her if she doesn't like you doing it. just make sure you open the door for her (and pull out her seat if you'd like--but, i never do). dinner dates can be boring sometimes, so try and think of interesting things that you'll talk about just in case there are awkward silences.

Helz yeah, Order her a salad, or the cheapest thing on the menu and just go from there. No but seriously, I wouldn't suggest ordering for her. Thats cliche and not very respectful imo. Perhaps if you were age I could see ordering a drink for her, but i see thats out of the question. Like alexb650 said, pull the seat out for her, women probably dig that, but I just don't try that hard. If you are going to a really classy place, read up on your general table etiquette, like what forks to use and what not. Just so you don't look like a poser.

If this was 1846, I'd say go ahead and order for her... but it's not. Ordering for her is viewed as more controlling than anything these days.

Make sure your manners are in check. If you're looking for a gf out of this deal, she is watching your manners. Opening doors is a must. Be polite to people in service jobs. Don't go over the top - just enough so that you're making a good impression. Oh yes - pay for dinner.

not all girls want men to hold the door open just a tip, I read an interview for a model and she says men who do this are just trying to hard to get in her undies. Thats just an example that not all women want the gentlemen type of service wher eyou look like a slave. Some do though those slave masters, they also have a strap on , and a whip.

somewhat contradictory in your post. You try to appear as if u are against typical gender roles with your guys shouldnt order comment, but guys are supposed to participate in stereotypical gender roles in every other aspect of the date...

The first thing u do after u seat your lady is go over to your waiter and give them your credit card and say just put on the gratuity when we are done bring it over to me let me sign it and we are gone. The only thing I would order ahead is usually the appetizer and a different selection of wines. If she orders steak for example I will have already chosen a cabernet savignon ahead of time etc, that will take us through the evening. When the evening is done the waiter just comes over u sign the check and leave. It gives the impression of class and the man has his **** together. Your not fumbling with the bill and you have command of the evening. I usually end up at my place which has music playing an ambience candles already lit, reading material around that will indicate who I am or that will sure to impress an apertif on the table like galliano with a flick of the switch expresso going with a very lite desert to give her time to take it all in. I excuse myself then and change into something that seems relaxed and shows off my build and always have a hint of masculine scent in the air not perfumie and a rose in a vase I give at the end of the visit usually next morning or evening etc. Even if this date was not the chick u wanted to go out with again guess how many ladies heard about it from her. No more problems getting a date and the nights alwasys just keep on goin

1. Don't order for her.
2. Balance the conversation to 60/40 her.
3. Pay for the meal. If you do the whole dinner and movie thing, pay for the dinner she might end up paying for the movie.
4. Open the door for her if it seems like a natural move but don't go running up to the door just to open it for her. If you're in front and the one to open the door open it for her.
5. You might end up sitting in a booth so the chair thing is moot, but if it's not, I wouldn't bother unless it's an upclass thing. If you're going to a Chili's or something, it looks silly.
