HIIT on an Inclined Treadmill?

General and simple question...do you, personally, perform HIIT on an inclined treadmill? And, whether you do or not, would you advise it, or do you think it has negative, or dangerous effects? Just asking because I'm kinda new to HIIT, but I have been performing Max-OT cardio this way for a while.

There is no problem with inclining the treadmill...in fact it helps and is usually recommended to those who have hit the max speed on the treadmill. It really increases the intensity. Try it out and let us know what you think. Just don't start off with a 10% incline right off the bat...that could end badly LOL!!!

Good Luck and ENJOY!!!!

since this is a HIIT topic, does anyone know of a site that shows how you HIIT and what it would look like for the duration you do it. I have heard a lot about it and want to try it

Well I've got a trusty old treadmill in my room and the incline really pushes it. If for some reason or other putting maximum speed isn't an option, increase the incline. It can also hecticly top up the intensity.

I did it just yesterday, and I really like walking HIIT a lot. 20 mins HIIT on the treadmill, 4.5-5 mph, 8-12% variable incline. It was a great set of cardio. But, you do need to be ready to do HIIT with the incline, as it feels quite a bit different that flat walking/running.

Well, I already do Max-OT cardio on a 15% incline, and I like it because it burns more calories than the flat surface (of course)...so what would be the benefit of dropping the incline to add speed?

The couple times I have tried HIIT, I was doing a 15% incline and 30 second intervals of 6 mph, so why would I drop to a flat surface and do sprints at around 13 mph or so?

First, yes, increasing the incline on a TM/running uphill is a great way to perform HIIT because you are less likely to sustain a hamstring injury. I started doing hill sprints and incline TM work after severely pulling my R hamstring and have noticed a great increase in leg strength and endurance due to the extra workload.

Second, wow, *bishy* is incredible.

I like to do mine outside and sprint to a light post or so, then jog, basically set a nearby target...
