Well my dad had cancer, had surgery and chemotherapy, and while that was going on the important thing was to hold his weight. Prior to this he was thin, quite lean and lost around 60lbs in weight.
He's started off quite slow, more of a daily 2 mile walk, and I've been pushing him trying to get him on his bike. My house is on top of a hill, and cycling up it would help stick some size on to his quads (thighs).
Another important thing he's lost is his posture. He has a stoop, shoulders forward, so emphasis on pinning his shoulders back and looking straight ahead at all times.
You may not feel bothered to hit any weights, but the important thing is to stick that bit more effort into the small daily things such as climbing stairs, gardening, lifting shopping bags with a straight posture.
I would suggest going to circuit training to get you accustomed to doing various exercises with your own body weight, then move on to additional weights focusing on compound moves - bench, deadlift, babrbell rows, squats, lunges, shoulder presses.
