Popping Veins and Bruises
I am fairly new to body building and I have been noticing my veins starting to pop out when I am working out. What is that all about? And also I bruise easily since I have been working out - why???

First welcome. Normally your veins start to show as your BF% lowers that's a good sign. Bruising could be caused by anything, hard to tell, maybe the bar hitting your body or the extra stress.

Veins popping is normal due to a lower bf% as stated before. The bruising is not so normal -
Do you bruise easily?
Do you take aspirin and fish oils?
Are you taking supplements?
Certain supps might in extreme circumstances cause this as does aspirin esp. if fish oil is taken.
Otherwise it might just be the weight work and the metal knocking the skin.

congtatulations on the veins, thats a sign that your body fat % is low and you're in good shape...a lot of people work their butts off for those veins......also it could be a genetic trait, some people show their veins a lot easier than others.....i've been working out for nearly 4 years and my veins are only just starting to show.....love it !!
in regard to bruising, this may also be related to low body fat, skin is thinner, bumps and knocks more likely to cause bruising without the cushioning effect of fat under the skin. I also notice I come out in small bruises here and there, in the oddest places. I dont think they are all caused by knocks and bumps. I'm thinking that the extra stress of weight bearing exercise can sometimes cause some small blood vessels to pop resulting in small bruises... I get them on my biceps and quads occasionally.....just one of the signs that your working hard.

Might want to dig a little deeper into the bruising issue. Some people do it easily and for others it can be as simple as needing a little more iron in their diet. I wouldn't ignore it though, your body is telling you something.

Vitamin deficiencies can lead to easy bruising (C, K and some of the B vitamins). Do you take a good multi-vitamin? If not, try taking one and see if the bruising goes away over time.

I am taking the required vitamins and oils. The bruising now makes sense with the metal bar banging. It is always my legs which has no fat on them. Love hearing why my veins are popping - lower bodyfat - yahoo! Thanks everyone for helping me out. One more question - since I have been lifting weights I am constantly itchy on my thighs. My thighs are pure muscle and no fat and they are growing slowly but surely. What's up with that? Fleas??

Welcome, congrats on the veins. Sounds like you have the bruising figured out. As for the itching on the thighs, is it anywhere near the areas that are bruised? Do you wear pants or shorts to work out in? Could the bar be rubbing you the wrong way? Allergic to anything?

increased exercise leads to increased sweat which can lead to irritable skin.
then again, it could be fleas

Hi Nesha. I have no idea about your veins or why your legs itch. But, it is nice to have you here

I had this same problem and I never quite pinned down the reason for it. At first I assumed that since my quads were bigger that they were rubbing against the insides of my jeans more than usual causing irritation of the skin and hair foliciles. I've also wondered if it had to do with sweatiness or too many showers. Each of these seemed plausable.
My wife and I had our 6-year old daughter at the pediatrician to have a rash examined. She was stumped by my daughter's problem so I mentioned that I also had rash-like symptoms on my legs and that maybe what we had was contagious. (I was shooting for a free diagnosis. ) I dropped my pants and everyone took a good look. The pediatrician quickly determined that my problem was dry skin and recommended lotion. Problem solved!
