But it is only the idea and if I will go to the pwl competition it will be only for fun. I will see how my injuries will limitate me.

Go for it Lada! You would do great!

Please pray for my baby Lada. She was just rushed to the hospital in an ambulance with a paralisis when she was just able to move her hands. I have no idea what is going on. She is on her way to neurology right now and I will be calling in later tonight to see whats with her.

I just called but no clear info yet. Just that all reflexes are OK so she is not paralized but PROBABLY severly burned out CNS or some pressed nerve or something. They are keeping her in for some test. I hope to know more tomorow when I go for a visit.

Omg! I am so sorry to hear this! I truly hope it's not too serious. Please tell her she's in my thoughts and, although I am not a religious woman and so do not pray, I will be hoping for the best outcome for her. Please let us know what's happened as you find out. This is very scary.
I was thinking, I was paralyzed in my right arm once from a compressed spinal cervical disc. The compression pinched a nerve and it was painful and I could not move my arm at all. If she has the same it fortunately is reversible.

Thank you all. I just got back from the hospital. During the night it got worse when the paralysis took the whole body from the neck down including the hands. They did a battery of tests and the only thing they found out is a deadly low level of potassium. And I mean REALLY low levels. Nobody has any idea what happened. I was with her during the whole day today and once they started IVs with potassium she got a little bit better. She is able to move her toes and forearms a little so it is much better than this morning. However there is a long way ahead to complete mobility. I am going back tomorow and I hope that she will be able to move at least her arms. It is heartbreaking seeing her not beeing able to move at all, not able to grab my hand or do anything.

Wow! Well please let her know that we are all thinking of her and we wish her a very speedy recovery. I hope that they can raise her potassium levels back to normal safely.

You know, I had something similar happen to me just over a year ago. My arm started hurting for no reason in the evening, then I woke up in the middle of the night with my arms bent up over my chest, unable to move them.. but it felt like I smashed my collarbone? Very weird. We rushed to the hospital and they had NO idea what was wrong, aside from some weird blood readins.
I had low potassium issues, and the other thing was.. high level of purines? I think. Never happened before, hasn't happened since. It went away within 2 days, and they figured it had something to do with the sick amount of shrimp I'd been eating in the weeks leading up to it.
Scary as all hell, but it did leave COMPLETELY with no long term problems. I HOPE she has something like what hit me. It was nasty scary, but I'd take that over anything long-term any day.

Thank you all!!! They would not let me stay over in the hospital for the night with her so I went home and about at midnight I got a text message from Lada that she is moving her arms and legs. Not the torso yet but when she was able to pick up the cell and write me a message, that is awesome news for us. Going back there today again. I am so relieved that she is improving so fast and that as of right now she is able to do at least something like read a book. It was the worst feeling for me seeing her in the hospital bed completely motionless, bored, depressed and with her mind wondering all kinds of crazy things about the future. If I could I would switch places with her in a heartbeat.

Thank you all!!! I am so relieved to say that Lada is completely fine now. She is able to move normal and was moved from intensive care to normal. We finally know what happened and it is crazy. Lada had some bladder infection about a month ago and her doctor did not find out and gave her wrong medication. That way the symptoms went away but the infection remained undercover and it moved to kidneys which stopped filtering potassium from urin. So basically Lada was urinating her life away. It got so far that docs were afraid of heart failure yesterday and had her on monitors. However she is OK now and getting antibiotics for the infection. She should be home in a couple of days. It turned the best way it could.

Thank you so much for letting us know. Wow, who would know that low potassium levels could do that! When you said she was fully paralyzed I couldn't even reply because what could a person say in such a frightening situation? I'm so glad it turned out to be something curable! Thank goodness. I can just imagine what was going through her mind. Glad to hear she will home soon
