dumb people in the gym
i was benching and there was this guy and his friend next to me about 2 benches away. everytime someone came into the gym the guy snickered and said something like "dude that guy needs to eat more/less", "dude that guys' calves are tiny" and stuff of that sort. now this guy had a below average body for the gym so i was a little surprised he was so critical but i just ignored it. then when i was doing my warm up sets, i got to my final warm up set (2 reps @ around 90% weight) and right as i finished i heard the guy snicker and whisper to his friend "look at that he does 2 rep sets hehehe". i wanted to slap that mofo but i realized he was probably mentally disabled.

People like that are lame. Best thing you can do is ignore them/scare the **** out of them with your superior strength.

laugh it off
I get that crap alot. It's always people criticizing what I do. I know I'm not the biggest guy in the gym, or the most ripped. But I've had someone judge what I should do, and tell me I'm pathetic for my size. I find it funny this is a guy who is 40lbs heavier than me, and he can barely bench his own bodyweight. He laughs at me for doing 4 sets- 12 reps of 155? Please. I do explosive speed reps to promote rapid power. I only work out with half my max to burn excess, and gain mass/endrance. I don't see his fat ass benching 310 max. But it's people like this we have to laugh about in our own heads. If you don't have an ipod, use a silly comment. "ok slim, whatever you say *big smiles!*"

People make fun of other people when they're insecure of themselves. Some people don't remember that the gym is for fixing weaknesses such as small calves. Remarks such as the one you're talking about(weak calves) are for the judges table not the bench press.
Just ignore them. Besides, if you have enough breath to talk between sets you're not working hard enough.

There are jackasses wherever you go. Ignoring them is part of life.

newbies
When you go to the gym and scope out the guys that are doing "ladies lovin"muscles such as arms and chest all day. While they're entire body falls apart from no training. How about working on the core exercises and developing the entire body rather than just a couple of bodyparts.
