Can you make cottage cheese yummy?
Help, ladies!
Cottage cheese is something I'd really like to incorporate into my diet, but I can't seem to stomach it.
Is there anyone that has found a way to make it not as (how to phase this eloquently ...) yucky?
 Thanks!!

My husband hates it too. I throw it in a blender w/ oats, egg whites, cinnamon to make protein pancakes. You can also add splenda and cinnamon to it or mix 1/2 cup CC w/ 1/2 cup flavored yogurt, berries and Kashi Go Lean for more protein I add a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream Protein Powder. YUM!

I never used to like it, either, so to get myself used to eating it I started out eating the pineapple kind. Now I just get plain fat free and add things to it. For a snack I usually have it with whole grain crackers or crispbread (Ryvita). Or else I mix in granola or nuts for crunch and flavor.
Some combos I've liked:
Mix in a tbsp or so of whole cranberry sauce and 1/4 oz pecans.
Mix in handful of fresh blueberries, spread on Ryvita fruit crunch.
Mix in fresh cracked black pepper, use as dip with whole wheat crackers.
Add small amount of crunchy granola and dried fruit (craisins, raisins, etc.)
Here's an awesome page with lots of ideas for using cottage cheese in recipes, etc. as well as how to spruce it up for snacks:

I've always hated cottage cheese until I tried the Friendship brand Whipped version. For some reason, texture maybe, I love it now! I eat it daily either plain or mixed with some chocolate protein powder. It almost tastes like a chocolate pudding!! Yum.

I eat it with fruit (usually pineapple or peaches). Or bake it into a whole wheat lasagne with spinach.
A glob of peanut butter in it is also yummy.

1 tbsp peanut butter is really good, or more recently i've discovered that if you mix ina package of sugar free/fat free jello pudding mix into a tub of it it makes it taste just like the pudding. it's definitely yummy. you'd never know it was cottage cheese.

i eat it pretty much everday & to most its def an acquired taste > i happen to love it
ive had the kind w/ pineapple & peaches already in it, but add my own fruit as well.
*add fruit (blueberries, strawberries, apples, oranges, bananas...)
*add some protein powder, SF syrup, cinnamon, sweetner, SF jelly, cereal, pb, almond butter, oats... sometimes i'll add the cc to oats when theyre hot... melts right in.
*sometimes i'll add a spoonful of the plain ff cc to my tuna (w/ a little mustard, onions, celery, spices, etc. as well) gives a moist texture
*ive even mixed hard boiled egg whites (cut up) w/ cc
if the curds of the cc is what you dont like, you can kind of "mash" them w/ a fork or the back of a spoon to make a smoother consistency.

Love love love putting 1 cup CC, 1 packet splenda, cinnimon in the freezer for 20 min or so then topping it with almonds, fiber one, and SF maple syrup. Putting it in the freezer gives it kind of an ice cream texture...it's my bed time snack

I love pineapple with my cc...mandarin oranges are really good too. If you like jello, then the sugar-free orange flavor is good in it.

i used to think that it was gross too.... but i have definitely acquired a taste for it. my friends and family would probably even say that i am a little obsessed with it... i eat it several times a day. here are some of my concoctions:
my favorite: 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 1/2 cup pumpkin puree, sf maple syrup, splenda, cinnamon & a touch of milk- mix it in the blender & it becomes a creamy pudding without any chunks
- cottage cheese, low carb yogurt, optional berries
- microwaved apples with cinnamon, splenda, and sf maple syrup + cottage cheese
- cottage cheese + tuna and various spices
- add cottage cheese & sf jam to a piece of toast, pop it in oven til the cheese starts to melt
- add cottage cheese to scrambled eggs and heat it til it melts
.... i could go on and on

Throw your cottage cheese into a blender with the same volume of water and blend until it is smooth. This totally changes the texture.
I then add half a pint of hot water to sugar-free jelly, stir to dissolve, then add some ice cubes and stir until it is on the point of setting. Throw into the blender with the cottage cheese and blend the whole lot. Suddenly, you've got a sweet fluffy dessert which tastes nothing at all like cottage cheese.

You may want to experiment with different brands. I HATED cottage cheese when I was a kid. Didn't matter what my mom put in it...even if it was in lasagna I'd avoid those bits.
I trained myself to eat cottage cheese by eating it with strong tasting fruit (mangos, pineapple, peaches). Eventually I found out that I liked cottage cheese, but I'm really picky about where it comes from. Store brands are normally crap. HEB (a Texas chain, I'm not sure where you're at) has decent tasting cottage cheese, though. Daisy brand makes the cottage cheese I buy most often...it has 3 ingredients: cultured skim milk, cream and salt. I know what all those things are. Check out the ingredient list on what you've tried...you may find a lot of ingredients you have to look up and maybe those are the things that are nasty tasting. LOL
You can mix dang near anything in cottage cheese. Sweet stuff, spicy stuff...it's pretty versatile. I normally just eat it on it's own (I hated it so much as a kid I never thought I'd enjoy it like that!) and I'll chase it with some nuts. I just finished eating some and ate peanut butter "stuffed" jalapenos right after. Mmmmmmmmmmm...

Hmmmmmmmmmm...that sounds pretty dessert like. I might have to try something like that when I want to pretend I'm eating dessert. LOL

I tried cottage cheese alone once and hated it. Then for a while I would mix a big heaping couple spoonfulls of microwaved (and thus runny) smooth peanut butter in.
This was better, but not perfect.
Now I mix equal parts CC and plain low fat yogurt.
The yogurt entirely masks the CC taste. It's like yogurt with chewy bits.
I eat this ever 4 hours or so, and a bunch before bed, to keep my anabolic 24/7.

I sprinkle my cottage cheese with about 1/4 tsp of sugar free jello powder (raspberry or strawberry are my favs). The sf jello powder gives it a fruity taste without a lot of added calories.
Also, sometimes I dissolve 1 whole pack of sf jello in about 3/4 cup warm water, add it to a blender with 1 cup cottage cheese and 10 ice cubes or a cup of frozen fruit. Blend. voila! fruity/protein smoothie!! Low cal too!

I like my CC with SF jam or I'll take a fruit yogurt and mix it with CC. Yummy!

I've discovered that I can only eat a certain brand of cottage cheese - Shamrock Farms. It turns out that all of the dairy farmers are local here in Phoenix. Also I'm told by a coworker that's it's the freshest. (Her grandparents were dairy farmers.) I've come to the conclusion that for me to eat cottage cheese it's got to be as fresh as possible. Otherwise, I can't stand it.

WOW! Awesome ideas I'll have to use. I was just starting to get tired of my twice-daily cottage cheese habit!
You ladies are awesome! You keep it fresh!
I have done a lot of different things...when I was preggo cottage cheese and dill pickles was my fav...I know it sounds gross but I loved it!
My current favorite is to add a bunch of green seedless grapes to my cottage cheese. I looove it! It just does something for the grapes.

Mixing equal parts cottage cheese and yogurt is awesome! sometimes i add some fibre 1 in for more texture (and fibre), too.
