To me, the hardest part of getting back in reasonable shape was allowing my health (physical and mental) to be a priority. As you said, parenting is 24/7, and there are always a million other things you feel you need to do. You have to claim the time, and understand that you will get payback in terms of energy, clarity and longevity.
Best wishes to all of you. It's the most important job in the world.

i love this....... claim the time.... and allowing the physical and mental health to be a priority.....

Ugghhh the motivator
I have a friend that is a personal trainer she was 180lbs when we younger hanging on south beach and i was 102 wet. Now i have 3 kids and i am in the 170's and she is 132lbs but is a muscle she is my motivator in every way we talk everyday and she keeps me on track. I will be to my goal one day soon. And i never want to fit into a size 0 that is for sure. I have grown to look at my body very diffrently. Things change in life and sometimes you never know who will be teaching you a thing or too about health. Don't feel jealous you are on your own weight loss journey. And i am sure you will find so many woman here that will help you along the way. Have fun with it. Good luck to you

I wouldn't worry about it. Your reaction was far more about how you felt about yourself. If that had been the future you, all musclely with an under 20% bf, you wouldn't have had that reaction. It probably would have been the opposite! Feeling bad for her being so underweight with no muscles

I found ways to keep my mental health, but my physical shape took the hit. While I didn't get fat, I was not in shape. Jello doesn't have a shape. It wasn't until 6 months ago that I was able to really obligate myself to a 3-day a week exercise program. My daughter by that time was 15. Better late than never
If you can find the time, and be consistent, go for it!

As a mother of six children, I understand completely how you feel. The ages of the kids goes like this..20, 18, 17, 13, 6, 5. What I have discovered is the more I work out ...the better I handle everything else! You have made great progress...you should be so proud!!! sincerely, Amy

I stayed home for the first 6 months of my son's life the went back to work for the adult interaction and to have some time out from being at home all the time. It worked out to be the best thing for my family.
It can be hard at times working, attending to a child, household stuff, keeping the marriage alive etc etc and then on top of that trying to keep any sort of fitness going.. but hey I look at it like thousands of other women out there are doing it.
When I have my second child I will stay home longer. I really do think it is important as a SAHM (when I was) to still get out there and socialise otherwise you can feel very isolated.
BTW I commend all you mother's out there that do the 3+ kids thing, man I couldnt do that many kids!! ha ha....

I know what you mean. I only work weekends and it is like everyone takes advantage of my time during the week assuming I have nothing to do. I recently started working out at the gym and even my husband who is very supportive started asking if I was going to be able to get some things done by going to the gym. I told him, it was only an hour of my day. I do this for me. Endless laundry, cleaning, and cooking seems like all I do and then it is Friday night before I have to go to work in the morning and I still feel like I have not gotten everything done. So basically I understand you girl.
