Numb Toes, burning feet doing cardio
I have noticed if I am on the elliptical or treadmill over 30 minutes or so, my toes go numb and my feet burn-has this happened to anyone else, or I am just the lucky one?

Your shoe laces might be too tight.

I sometimes get the numb toes thing when I am running stairs, and I don't generally wear shoes because I am at home. I'm not sure what causes it however.

You're probably supporting your weight almost fully on the balls of your feet, which is easy on the elliptical because you're not performing the same movement as walking or running, so you don't have to walk heel-toe. Try to concentrate on keeping your heels in contact with the foot pads.

I get the same thing and wonder too what causes this. I have come up with 3 things:
1. my shoes are new?
2. Laces are too tight.
3. feet are dry or i have a case of athletes food. Ick I know...

The same thing happens to me! When it happens I usually am on the balls of my feet too much. The elliptical machines at my gym can give you two sorts of motion, running, or more stair stepping. When it happens I switch from running to the stair stepping motion, really trying to keep the weight on my heels and even lifting my foot off the machine an inch or so at the top of the stride just for a break.
The other thing is try and keep your toes moving in your shoes, that has helped me as well.

I find that happens sometimes on the machines where you don't lift your feet (elliptical, stat bike) but not on the treadmill or stepmill.
could be the balls of feet thing, or just an unnatural movement result...your feet usually get to lift off the surface they are on.
Not too helpful I know, just my experience. Good luck though!

It happens to me but only on the elliptical, I am sure it's to do with the movement. However, I don't have this issue with any other cardio machines. I know that you can change direction on the elliptical, so that might help.

I had same problem on the stationary bike, feet would be on fire after about 20 minutes. I even tried wearing sandles because they got so hot. I think part of it was pre workout drink (vapor) and the fact that my body was trying to cool down by releasing heat through extremities. Its like sticking your feet out of the covers at night. I'm sure I'm not the only woman who does that. Never found a solution. But I do not have this problem on the treadmill as a previous post stated. My feet still get hot but not on fire lke the bike. Btw wear a very light pair nikes with thin no shows.

You should also check your incline. A high incline on the elliptical also contributes to the burning-feet syndrome.

Shoe laces, maybe?
Hopefully it's something as simple as your shoes being laced up too tight. It also might be poor circulation. I noticed that you don't have any pics. posted nor messurements but 5'6 and 190+ lbs. might also be contributing to this problem. I know, I had similar problems when I was carrying x-tra weight. Hopefully, it's just shoe laces tho-. Ps: congrats on the already weght drops that you've achieved. Have a great weekend! Johnny

I was having a problem with my toes falling asleep during spin class. I would have to stop and shake out my feet. Eventually it stopped happening, not sure why but it was really annoying.

I was worried it was my back
this happens to me too, on the elliptical and the AMT (I just LOVE that thing!!!) Changing my shoes doesn't help. I am long overdue to see my chiro and my osteopath, and have started feeling my tailbone and/or my hip joint grind when I perform certain movements. I was thinking my subluxation might be the cause of the foot numbness...

Many times the numbness and/or tingling in the feet is due to a vitamin B-12 deficiency. Not uncommon with women. We also have poor circulation and if you're taking aspirin in any part of your supplement routine it may aggravate the problem.

I used to get that alot on the treadmill and in dance class. Now I have problems with my plantar facia. Make sure your shoes are not worn out and are giving you plenty of support. Also make sure you are stretching your feet well before and after.
