Dairy on a cut?
Hey,
I'm making a preparation diet plan for my cut cycle and I'm basing it on this: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/hugo29.htm
Now, this article is very strict, but it does not talk about dairy on a cut, like ff milk, cc and yogurt.
It is worthwhile? if not, why?
thanks.

sure is worthwhile
dairy is a great source of a casein + whey mixture that is essential to bodybuilders.
These are good sources to have before bed ( such as cottage cheese ) or for a meal throughout the day that you want to have slowly digesting and keeping you full for a cut.
Milk is also a very good bodybuilding drink as it has a great carb/protein ratio and has been shown that when mixed PWO with some whey will cause a greater insuling spike and help aid in protein synthesis..
I would keep dairy for the facts above and as a good way to get some calcium and Vitamin D into your diet.
Hope this was helpful. Just play it into your macros.

Milk has a high insulin index, so if ur aiming to keep your insulin levels down, I wouldn't consume stacks of it.
However, as alluded to by previous poster, this makes it useful PWO. So I would consider employing when you want the insulin - definitely PWO, and if u really want milk, breakful and post cardio

This doesn't happen to me - its personal isn't it? Processed salt is the thing I notice causing water retention
Does water retention really matter though - just drop it at cut's end. Perhaps its better to unknowingly suffer from water retention during a cut - its motivation if u think u have more to lose than you think!

It is interesting that you say that, because when I eat hot sauce and Mustard I don't notice water retention, they don't have loads of sodium in them, but they have some. When I take in some forms of dairy I definitely feel water retention.

I notice fizzy drinks will cause bloating also, but its about 12 hours, and is always fine next day.
Natural sea salt does nothing to me, whereas processed does. I think everyone is different re: bloating - wheat, whey, casein, dairy, eggs, sodium, artificial sweetners, carbonated beverages, soy, are all foods claimed to bloat some people.
Anything bloats u mildly, even water - that is why we look best in morning on empty stomach.

There are multiple studies showing that subjects on a cut lost more fat and gained more fat on diets accompanied by casein protein than on diets accompanied by whey protein. Casein protein is great for a cut.
And some people do retain water from dairy, but not all do, if you don't then go for it.

Did you mean lost more fat and gained more muscle? if so, you can actually gain muscle on a cut?

depending on an individual and the state they are in yes..
coming from soneone who is small and looking to tone up a bit maybe not so much,
but if the person is obese and overweight and cutting.. they have a good chance of losing that fat and making some good muscle in the progress

OH hah, I meant gained more strength. The studies were on overweight adults, so as Layzie said, it would moreso apply to more overweight subjects, but in subjects who only have a few pounds of fat to lose, casein seems to be a good way to maintain strength.

I drink skim milk on cuts, but only in the morning with my oatmeal, dairy over time has shown to help with fat loss

Did you find that dropping the whey shakes helped you lean out a noticable amount, or just that dropping them made that extra little difference?
I wasn't on whey for a long time, then cut and I looked more defined and lean than I ever had, I was also not eating dairy except the occasional container of yogurt (usually danon light 'n fit).
