wtf
(no homo)
lol at db collectors
I hate when people do shrugs or curls point blank in front of the rack so I can't get the weights I need...it takes significant self control when hopped up on NO-shotgun to not grab there heads and smash there faces into the mirror

I can't stand when people who stand behind the squat rack waiting for you to finish a set. That's not even the worst part. There is this guy who stand literally as close as a spotter waiting for you and no matter what you tell him he doesn't move back.
Another guy does a super cycle between leg press, shoulder press, bicep curls, bench, and checking out his hair. The entire cycle takes about 45 minutes but if you are on his leg press with 2 plates, he throws a bitch fit.

The lady with the PDA entering stuff, sitting there in between sets on leg presses.
Oh, and:
"Fitness Trainers" who leave weights lying around while training their clients.

I hate when you go there and their are people who are more out of shape than you are trying to tell you how to work out. I don't give advice unless I'm asked at that time I make it brief and get back to my workout.

The really awesome, huge guys who have somehow gotten the impression that their "chest day" which consists of three sets of flat bench supersetted with 5 minutes of bull**** conversation is the only thing that matters. Thats why I don't train in gyms anymore. I have everything I need in my garage. Unfortunately I still train clients in a commercial gym though, so I still have to deal with it. I actually trained one of my clients with a full body smoker the other night in the time it took one of these meatheads to do TWO set of bench presses. Thats insane. I despise the Globo- gym atmosphere.

Good thread.
The main thing that annoys me is people who don't clean up after themselves and/or don't re-rack their weights. It's really frustrating to have to remove someone's weights before I can start my own workout. It makes my workout longer and is just plain rude and inconsiderate. It's also just plain piggish to leave empty energy drink cans and power bar wrappers laying around.
Other than that, I just put on my iPod, crank the volume and stay focused on keeping my form, keeping my intensity high and staying within my allotted rest time. If I spent time worrying about what everyone else is thinking of me, that's all I'd have time for.
RE: people staring. I've been known to sneak some glances at people. It's not in a creepy sort of way, nor do I stare, but don't freak out if someone gives you an admiring glance. Most times I'm looking at someone who's fitness level I admire, or who has great form. Also, not all gay men are twittering nancy-boys who are just waiting for you to drop your guard so they can proposition you. Now you know how some women may feel about us dudes!
I guess I go to a pretty ok gym because the weight-racking and trash are the most heinous things I've had to put up with. Although, I don't take showers there and only go to the locker area to use the restroom, so I have no idea what the locker room atmosphere is like.
Some of the people everyone else here's run into sound like real pieces of work.

I have this couple in my gym, I see them almost everyday I'm there. It's like they're having sex while they're spotting each other. It makes me f**king sick. He's all but f**king her in the a** while he's helping her with bicep curls etc. It's sick.

reps on recharge
it's one thing to walk on the tradmil, yet still work hard. it's obvious when people are doing that.
However, there are the ones that prop up magazine or hold a book (!) (wtf?) and read and walk/cyle. fi you're working at any time of intensity you could even keep your eyes straight. I know I cant even look at the TV screens when I'm on a cycle, even when I was 220+

crowded gyms forcing me to share everything I'm on and/or walk around waiting to use something. worst. thing. ever.
It's my biggest pet peeve this year since my college gym is so rediculously crowded that I can't go up to get a drink of water from the fountain in-between sets or else whatever thing I'm gets taken immediately .

dunno, I just grabbed that pic off google for illustration purposes only. My gym has those "almost lying down" bike things as above and I can understand ppl with lower back problems using it but I see ordinary fat assed women using it at like 1mph reading Better Homes & Gardens

they're good for newbies who are seriously out of condition. I used to use them for the about 5 mintues as a pre-warm-up then move to somthing else for another 5-10 mins. In my defense, I still worked hard on them. for the most part though, a lot of people just see them as a short cut to "toned thighs" or some isht.
they're like the the virgin/whore machine... they have a purpose but they are hardly ever used properly.

Although I work out in a military gym, I think we in general face the same problem, whether they are military or civilians. My personal pet peeve, not racking the weights that the person used. I don't care if it's not in order of weight, but at least rack it on the rack stand.

People (usually middle aged, out of shape men or women) who just don't have a clue. They sit there pushing light weights or the machines without even breaking a sweat. I once saw somebody correct them and they just made excuses like 'It's not ment to hurt, that's when you damage yourself.' That's right, you tell that 200pound man mountain who lifts more then you weigh that he knows **** about training....
That and the absolutely **** music.

I didn't post my peeve earlier: it's people who use the squat rack from non-heavy upperbody work. I've even ranted about it on here. There's only one rack at my gym so that ****'s annoying.
military pressing 30kg for reps, with a spotter???? GTFO!

Is it just me, or are the majority of people who train at gyms complete social retards? Its like a collection of insecure tosspots all rolled into one hall. Yes, im that angry mother****er that never smiles and never greets anyone. I dont want to talk ****. I dont care about how much you benched. Im there to destroy myself in 45 mins tops and then walk out and spend time with family, friends, girlfriends, whatever.
The only time Im friendly is if you ask me how many sets I have left, and ill offer to share between rest.
Some pet peeves though
- Asking some dude how many sets he has left on the cable crossovers, and he says "14" or lots. Anyone using one machine for his full workout needs a smack upside the head. Ill find out which car is yours, and tyres will be slashed.
- Fat old cvnts who insist on wearing the shortest running shorts they could buy. 80's gym fashion never died for these people. If the old ladies are not in their aerobics gear, we have men walking around in **** that should never be worn anywhere but a gay pride march. They normally last a month tops, never to be seen again
- Women wearing makeup at the gym. Seriously. WTF? I know you always need to look your best, but thats what the exercise is for.
-Couples training together. They slow everything down, spend more time holding hands then training and generally irritate the living **** out of me
Im convinced that less then half the people under the age of 40 who are at a gym are going because its
a) A place to meet people
b) what mens health told them to do to get abs so they can meet people
c) a new fad where gym = huge muscles and tight arses in 3 weeks tops! Mens health/cosmo promised.
