Ok Lee Yes you are right. I think you called me some choice names when I hit about 50 or 60 reps, then some more around 80. The important part is that i was able to walk out of the gym. Bearly that is.

Hey Rusty and Lee
i was just wondering, do you design your own workout routines? if not where do you get them?, and how often do you switch routines?, do you stick to your routines 100% or do you improvise a bit when you get to the gym?

No routines, just insanity...well we kind of know what we need and make it up as we go. alternate things, like every other back workout we'll do deadlifts and kind of do instinctive type of stuff just do what we feel we need.

I'm feeling really drained, really tired. I put some pics on my website www.rustyjeffers.net last week, but those are at 4 weeks out. I will have SoCalPhotographer take some pics on Saturday and I'll post a few of those here, so keep looking, and thanks!

Thanks for the quick reply via PM rusty.
Would you be able to hook us up with any early bodybuilding pictures of you when you started or around the age of 19? Teen years..
Thanks
Alex

I checked out the pics on your forum of you at 4 weeks out, your pics are killin alot of them (johnnie jackson and gustavo). The 2 week pics should be crazy especially the quad seperation in the abs and thighs pose. Which pose do you consider your strongest/weakest?
Are you and Lee done working out together? I'm sure the progress you have made with him will have you look amazing on the ironman.

I don't think have a weak bodypart, I don't have any stronger or weaker pose when it comes to mandatories. I could throw out a bodypart like forearms just to say something, but I've worked really hard to be balanced so I wouldn't have that problem or a funny awkward look. I get railed about conditioning, but I've never come out of conditon...I don't consider lack of striated glutes a bodypart and I've got them today. I have been training with Lee for a few months now and he has definitely helped me. He pushes me a lot harder than I have trained in recent years. I have kept a lot more size and motiviation. He's been a great training partner and a good friend.

i feel the same way i dont beleive shredded glutes or even glutes should be considered a basis for conditioning. back in arnolds time they wore trunks, not thongs and the sport was fine that way.
Your conditioning was on point at the last ironman. When did u feel your conditioning was lacking?? i thumbed through most of your galleries on your site and your physique just looks more filled out as you go on, conditioning near the same?
Silvio is the only one i see who might give u a challenge conditioning. Who would u like to be called out against for comparison on judging?

Who knows,,,seems the judges only care about condition these days. Silvio and I have two totally different physiques. TOTALLY. I prefer my look, more aesthetic for lack of a better term. Being leaner doesn't mean you have a better physique, and shouldn't be utilized as an end all judging criteria, and being stinking huge (while cool as HELL) doesn't mean you have the best physique onstage either. Competitively and professionally speaking, I strongly believe the ideal judging criteria should be adhered to. The person with the best COMBINATION of size, symmetry, proportion, overall look, and being able to display it WELL should be the winner, not whoever can just get the leanest. Hell I'm dieting and I'm irritable!!!! YA GET WHAT I'M THINKING..

What the hell is cycle drip?? This sounds serious, like somethihg you should ask a physician. I would have to look up the hypothyroidism, that's nothing I've ever dealt with.

If you want to ask a pro about gear or any pre-contest drugs (dnp, t3,clen) whatever then PM them and if they answer you, great, if they don't then just leave it at that.

Don't ask, I have no idea as to who you are...just get away from the drugs altogether, train hard and eat right. You'll get farther faster and keep your hard work and btw, you'll also KNOW how to do it and not rely on something that probably only took your money. There are no shortcuts, the secret is...there's no secret, it's all hard work. I know you've read that before but it's hard to actually believe.

Option 1-NO you dont have to be strong to get big it's all about technique
Option 2-You need to be strong to be big. You dont see many guys wiuth big chest benching 185

That is true to an extent, and I'm obviously not bashing because your a pro and have 1000000x more knowledge then me. But if you already eat and train right and you actually want to become PRO, then you have to use. Theres just no way around it, unless for some reason you want to join a natural federation, but a lot of people don't want that. I know a few people on these boards on HRT and their under 20!! I just hope it works out for them in the end. Being on TRT for the rest of your life and never making it past nationals, let alone becoming a pro, would really suck.

That is true.. there is a lot of guys who use and never make it. But I will say this...if you train hard and eat right for at least a few yearsbefore you decide to start using something, you at least KNOW what to do and know what works for you BEFORE you start. I know a ****load of guys who sauced at the beginning and you know what?? THEY STILL DON'T KNOW WHAT HELPED THEM. They would have gotten the same gains with out, they just will never know, now will they? Same goes for guys who stop their sauce and go back to being skinny (or fat) and I don't change much EVER. A little leaner, a little smaller, but like 10 lbs. I don't yo-yo. I know how to keep it. Being huge doesn't guarantee you'll place well locally much less nationally. Look how many guys never made it pro...Matt Mendenhall, Palumbo, Eric Fromm. It takes more genetics at that point, and many times it's sheer luck.

Everybody has a different fiber ratio, you'll notice some guys getting great results from heavy strength building, low rep, heavy weight workouts, while other individual respond to higher rep ranges. No matter how you slice it, you have to increase your workload to grow. Whether it be in reps, or whether it be in weight. So yes, you have to be stronger to get bigger. Good technique does help, perfect form in exercises in order to steer clear of injuries, and fll ranges of motion tend to fire more muscle fibers. I'M NOT SAYING PARTIALS DON'T HAVE THEIR PLACE, WHICH THEY DO.

Close Rusty. If you have a little more peak in your bisceps, i'd say you would have a perfect physic. Very asthetic im sure you sac'd some more mass that you could have had in order to balance everything. IMO thats the way it should be, if one is a true bodybuilder and not someone who plays the mass game to place. Not that your lacking mass by any means, but its nice to see someone who has abs on a flat stomach .
