How do I get rid of the little gut?
I've been consistent with my workout and a little cardio for the past three months. Very happy with the gains of muscle. Unfortunately, my gut refuses to get below 34" - grrrr! I would be happy to be down to 32" but it seems impossible. I'll be happy with any advice or encouragement.
FYI - I have cut down a lot on the snacking and I do my best to keep my protein intake high.

Knowing what your daily diet is and how much cardio you actually do will help us a lot.

I was eating right with a 60p/20c/20f diet for more than 3 months with a ton of cardio and about 2200 calories intake w/o being able to get to less then 225lbs. I've switched to a KETO diet as of Monday and I'm back on my down in weight (237 as of Jan 7) to 232 yesterday and this morning. We'll see how it goes over the next 2 months.

I think the trick to that last little bit is honesty... honesty with yourself. If you snack at all.. well then deal with the gut and sort of know that that is the trade off.. now if by snacking you mean a couple of handfuls of almonds or a teaspoon of peanut butter then that's different but if you are talking about Fast Food, Pizza, Soda, subs, chips, Ice Cream, Sweets and or pastry... then it is what it is.
I have been working out strictly, dieting,...extra strictly for 8 months plus, and I still have a little bit of a gut, in fact I am suffering from over training right now as a result of a spastic attempt at a final cut, ....failed and now I have to take at least a week off as a result... so watch that as well. But be honest and give it enough time and it should come off...

There's your answer right there. A lot isn't enough sometimes.

hate to break it to you, but it may not. my hubby for example can wear a 36 jean at 250#, but when he's in show shape and 25# lighter he's still a 36 jean. he makes his waistline look smaller by building a huge back.

it sounds like keto is the way for you. You've already tried the normal route. Fat burning is largely genetic - there is an ordeer to when you body burns it in each given area. If your belly is last, then you'll waste away before burning it.
also, love handles are a different kind of fat. Most fat is just a gel, it gets hot and melts away. Love handles are rolled real tight, like folded steel.
Here's the part I don't know for sure..
It sounds like you have to resort to drastic measures to get rid of the love handles (keto), once melted however, I beleive it might be easier to keep it off.
That's why I am struggling with what to work next, spaghetti arms or love handles. I am not sure I want to resort to keto just yet.

My love handles ain't rolled tight!
Anyway, maybe your frame is such that 34" is about it. I like the suggestion Someday had: just make you upper body bigger to give the illusion that your waist is smaller. at 5'8" and 153lbs, you seem like you have room for plenty more muscle

there is a forum dedicated to it in the nutrition section here.
basically its the process of putting the body into ketosis by making your macro ratios %65 fat %30 protien and %5 carbohydrates.
this puts the body into a fat burning mode.
Its not for everyone obviously but I have had good results in the past with it.
