Motorhome trip and gyms on the route.
My wife and I are heading out in a Motorhome in late September and are going to Boise Idaho, Las Vegas Nevada, Phoenix Arizona, Yuma Arizona, San Diego California, Venice Beach California, San Francisco California, Portland Oregon and Seattle Washington before heading back home.
Do you folks have good recommendations for gyms in any of these cities?

Crusing
Very surprised that the new Liberty of the Seas from Royal Caribbean had a great gym on board! Dozens of cardio, so no lines...Hammer Strength and Lifefitness machines in addition to a decent free weight area...
All of their larger ships have good workout areas unlike most of the older ships..

UPDATE on this from post # 60
THE GYM
17610 Midway Road ?? Suite 128
Dallas, TX 75287
(214) 242-7570
Small and quite warm, but packed with most of the hardcore equipment you could ask for
Cybex, Forza, freemotion, serious benches, rubber bumper plates, elevated racks
I'd like to see the AC up a little more, but got some serious hard workouts in there (they told me AC is now fixed)
Definitely what you want if 24hr fitness is not your cup of socializing tea
And I gotta tell you, their damn Gym bars and cookies are awesome. Now the bar is PERFECT, but the proto cookies are king of like cake consistency, really low sugar, but excellent profile, their sport cookie is kind of dry, but it is perfect for diabetics who need a tasty snack
http://www.protocookie.com/
I am trying to help them get picked up by bb.com now.
Update, they are now available on bb.com
http://bodybuilding.com/store/proto/proto.htm
the granola choc chip bar is awesome

Great owner, knowledgeable, sticks to fitness 101/basics
He's apparently still doing personal training, not just running things.
1066 Center Pointe Rd, NE
Cedar Rapids, Iowa 52402-3821
(319)721-4922
Also gives great common sense advice on fitness/supplements... doesn't try to market/sell a bunch of b.s. to line his pockets! Highly ethical!!

LOL...we were on the Liberty three months ago and I tried joggin on the treadmill.... uh, that would be a no. At least while out at sea..... I gave up after 5 minutes. Great accomodations tho. Those cruise ships have come along way. We had an owners suite and the bathroom is bigger than mine at home

Funny story: I'm on the Westerdam as we speak, and with Tropical Storm Noel in the general area, this has been one of the roughest trips we've taken....Even the stationary bike has been challanging...
So two mornings ago, I'm walking behind the treadmill just in time to catch a young woman who had lost her balance with the rough seas, and went shooting off the back of the tread!
It was a pretty funny picture, but if I hadn't been there at that exact time, she could have seriously hurt herself...

Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS ATHLETIC CLUB.... I have been a member for a little over a year but I have only been going since February.
Great Staff, trainers walk around and help with anything you need... Clean Locker Rooms, nice size pools, free classes and open 24 hours a day. Extremely big. A couple of the gyms have an inside track which is nice when I do my HIIT. No complaints at all...

Schaumburg Illinois
I have a business trip later this month to Schaumburg and the hotel that I am staying at does not even look like it has a small mirrorred room with a treadmill and bike and 5 lb dumbells as is std on most of my business trips. The hotel is the Renaissance Schaumburg Hotel and Conv Center. Any ideas. I will likely be on foot. Thanks for any help. Take care.

Jakked Hardcore Gym
Hi everyone!
I'm new to this site, and it's forums, but not new to the battle of staying fit.
My recommendation for a great place to workout is Jakked Hardcore Gym in Montgomery, IL. It's in between Aurora, and Oswego on River Road. Exact directions can be found on their website.
http://www.jakkedhardcore.com/
It's a place where mostly hardcore bodybuilders or strongmen workout. People are serious, and yet friendly too. Asking for a spot is not a problem here. It's run by Byron and Tami Hicks, 2 of the greatest people.
They started having Strongman competitions over the summer, and they've become pretty popular. Check out the site! Walk in and say hello! Tell 'em Rich sent you.

24 Hr fitness in Waikiki Hawaii. Its a basic no frills gym but it is on the main stip and is across the street from the beach, you could do cardio for hours and have plenty of scenery
its $10 a day but its worth it.

This is a Great gym if you are visiting Disney World and staying on International Drive. Easy to get to and open 24 hours so you can sneek away early morning or late night while the kids are sleeping off their day in the parks.

Quads Gym in Chicago
If you're only staying a few days they charge 11 bucks a pop or 80 dollars for 10 passes, they do have pretty good monthly memberships and no contracts.
http://www.quadsgym.com/

gyms for travellers.
if anyone is in the limburg areas of holland and belgium - then johns fitness in koningen astridlaan 50 in maaseik has a wide range of both cardio/ warm up machines and good machines for iron. the gym offers a day rate of 3.75 euros [around 4.25 dollars ] and has good opening hours over the full 7 days. most gyms in this region don't open a full 7 days. a lot of equipment - he has more than one of [ e.g 3 sets of cable pillars 3 smith machines ] . the equipment is modern and well maintained - john speaks english and will offer a special rate for weekly /2weekly etc. he also competitively prices the drinks / shakes / bars etc.
