Ronnie will be the greatest ever to me, just as lee haney and dorian were in their eras. Ronnies era will be the most remembered I think.

its funny in a side by side comparison, Arnold looks bigger in the arms, chest, calves. The only thing Ronnie has on Arnold is that nasty gh gut, and his quads size.

ok Arnold isn't bigger by number (ie. weight, etc), but he is definately Better.
Plus not to mention that now NPC/IFBB judges are looking more for the classic look then the mass monster.
My point exactly. sorry guys i prove my point with that pic

Thats a terrible pic of Ronnie, I prefer his 96-2000 days. I can never understand people who say 05 was his best. He looks very unappealing there. Also, dont even try to pass that pic of as anywhere close to accurate.

Oh wow. Please stop. Thris thread turns into a disaster. The last posts here. False and ridiculous.
1. 2005 was a very very great year for him.
2. The pic where he poses next to Arnold is from 2001, not his best showing, but he still looks better there IMO.
3. Arnold "better" than Ronnie? Please a moderator has to delete this post. Please.
It is so sad. Damn.

guys in real life you cant pic and choose what you want to be in the spotlight, honestly i think way more people would pic arnolds, and frank zane looks over ronnie anyday,
but depends on the person really ...honestly i think being the size of JAY ,ronnie is like being OBESE ,but i enjoy watching BB ,and they have my respect ,and i do understand that thats what true BB is about they lived, breathed BB
wonder why back in arnolds day there thighs didnt develop as thick as todays BB'ers ,look at arnolds legs and ronnies ,i dont understand how everyone back then could have legs like arnold and people today have MORE meat so to speak on there legs
is that only odd to me??

LOL, why not post Ronnie's best next to Arnold's best instead of Arnold's best with a pretty poor Ronnie?

Okay, let me add to this topic. Certain receptors (I'm not sure about the androgen receptor) can go through desensitization where they get phosphorylated and actually taken up by the cell with the ligand bound to them and get degraded. SO, the ligand and the receptor are degraded which leads to a DECREASED response to a certain dose. Let's say you take 400 mg/ed of a certain drug. If this happens, you may need to take more of the drug to get the therapeutic response because the drug and receptor are degraded in the cell causing desensitization.
NOW, the androgen receptor is located INSIDE a cell, not in the plasma membrane. It actually acts as a transcription factor (once it's bound by DHT it goes into the nucleus, binds to DNA, and transcription for whatever it needs begins). I KNOW there are other methods in which receptors can go through desensitization other than phosphorylation, so there may be a way for that to occur with an intracellular receptor such as the androgen receptor, but I'm not sure of the method.

Arnold was good, but there can never be a true side by side comparison. Ronnie was a beast and an amazing champion even with the GH gut.

Please take a college physiology or molecular biology class. Not trying to be rude but receptor burnout (not just androgenic receptors) is very real and effects many people.

i think that was the last year 1980 picture of Arnold. He had good definition in the legs then.
Doesn't really matter who was the best, lol. You should always respect the bodybuilders before you though
