Any Straight Edge\Drug Free Bodybuilders out there?
Wondering if there's anybody out there who's Straight Edge or Drug Free and is serious about bodybuilding? I am Straight Edge which means I refrain from drugs, alcohol and anything of that matter. I live life clean and without negativity. Bodybuilding has been there for me and instead of partying it up Friday and Saturday nights, I'm in the gym. So if anybody is out there who is Straight Edge or Drug Free and proud, hit up this thread..
Thanks,
XNick EdgeX

Was straight edge for 4 years before I decided it wasn't for me any more. Just wondering, do you bring your morals into bodybuilding as well? Such as no creatine or other supplements.

I used to party when I was in college. Decided it wasn't really for me. I hated the way it made me feel. So when I picked up this sport, I decided that since my genes limit me so much, I can't risk losing anything I gain by having "a good time".

I do take creatine, as well as caffiene here and there with a cup of coffee..but as far as drugs (marijuana, or any other recreational drug) and alcohol no, and don't plan to. I get angry when I see family members do drugs, it makes me sad and I wish they wouldn't, but it's their life and they know how I feel about it. I just do not see anything positive coming from drinking or doing drugs..it's all negative and you do not benefit at all from it.
It's good to hear there are some people out there who take bodybuilding seriously, and do not harm there body by putting poisons in em'.
Much respect to all of you who live life positive.

Exactly..it's almost as if you are doing all this hard work in trying to be fit and healthy..but when the weekend comes around..it's time to pour 100 beers in your system?..It just doesn't make sense to me..that's why when I see some of my old "friends"(not really)..they still have the same beer gut..and leave the gym halfway through finishing their routine because they have to go get ready to go out and get $hitfaced..not the ideal "Healthy lifestyle" Either you take it seriously, or you don't.

Straight Egdge + Drug Free here .
No drinky + other stuff not necessarily because of bodybuilding, but rather because I find them unnecessary. I believe that society has personified alcohol and other substances as a way to enjoy life. I've seen way too much negativity arise from the influences of both. That's why I'm staying clear for life.
P.S. Jesus Christ Nick Edge.. Really great work you've done for your body, especially for a natural!

True friends stick around even if you decide to live life completely clean and not participate in any type of boozin or illegal activities..
In which case...I understand what "Straightedge means I have no friends" means.
I can honestly say I have very few "True friends".

never smoked a cig or weed in my life ...since alcohol in moderation is beneficial for your health I do drink a beer or two about 1-2 weekly to relax if I am on a bulk
I am competing in my first natural show this october so I will have to stay focused if I want to win meaning I wont be doing anything to hinder that process.

Good for you bro! You rarely hear that! Yeah, I do not see a problem with others having a beer or 2 every once in a while..It's the people who drink 20 beers and get behind the wheel stoned and drunk I have a problem with.
Best of luck in competition!! I think you are going to kick a$$!

Thanks . Genetics are on your side man... the shape of your abdominal region is absolutely phenominal. However, I don't doubt you when you say how hard you work.
AND YES.. it pays off!

The story of my life bro. Congratulations on your year and a half. I know how hard it is. I am a recovering alcoholic as well and made the decision to live life completely clean. I chose the road to a healthy lifestyle, while my friends chose to stick with drugs and alcohol. I haven't kept in touch with one, and belive me I know how hard it is going solo..but when you have alcoholism in your blood, you either choose to live clean, end up in jail, or dead. I am thankful for what I have and now truly understand how precious life is.
Again, congratulations bro.

This is a really cool/interesting thread..I do have a question to everyone though, are there any convictions that make you guys not do drugs and drink or is it just preference because it makes you feel better all around?

thanx, that means a lot, its really hard to go from being the party animal everyone hitts up to see where the parties are at and everyone hitts up for alcohol to the only guy my age i know that doesnt drink or do drugs...especially when your friends that you hang out with on occasion (2-3 times a month) are in college getting ****ed up all the time and your not in college so theyre "better off" than you, what would you do to keep yourself entertained? besides work and work out?
