when do people workout at college?
im planning on starting working out and i want to go when the least people are there so i dont have to wait for any equiptment and so i dont feel like ppl are waiting on me and rushing me. im new so will be kinda self conscious about gym etiquette i might not know yet. (during rest between sets do other ppl use the equiptment you're using ?) (im working out alone b/c i want to be consistent in going to the gym. do people work out alone and if so do they need spotters?)
7 am? 10 am? noon? im looking to go around those times and dont want like the whole football team in there when i go
(this is in advanced cause the normal one isnt working)

... We can't answer that question for you.
You need to go to your college and scout out what times people usually come. The holiday season (or any vacation for that matter) is the worst time to do that type of observation because there may be more than usual gym use (extra free time) or less than usual gym use (gone away for the holidays, too busy).
During a generally normal time of the year, go observe the gym at different times. You'll see who the regulars are and who they aren't.
Ask the gym staff what times the gym is packed/empty, when the sports jocks come in, etc. (since they see the gym all year round).
Eventually you'll find a time that works, whether it be closing time, opening time, just before lunch rush, during peak lecture hours (when everybody is typically in class and doesn't have free time to go to the gym) or others.

At my gym...it gets packed at night around 8+. I think the best time would be the afternoon or the morning if you dont mind working out early. Personally, I only like working out at night.

Anytime before 6:00am and after 9:00pm is when my gym is empty. There is never anyone there except for the gym staff. Everyone is out at parties. I go at like 11:00pm. It's nice being all by yourself. Sucks though when you want to have a spotter on bench press and the gym staff people are tiny.

at mine, gyms least busy from around 8 in the morning until 2 in the afternoon on weekdays. 5 on is busy as ****. If you have no class until 1 or something go at like 10, if not 8 o clocks ur best time.
I'm lucky because i have access to a school gym, and a chain gym that is a 5 minute walk.

Usually at about 7 pm its starts to get busier because most people are done with classes.
Some days I can go in the morning before class, and some days I have to go at night after class, so sometimes you're going to be stuck going when it is busier.

I usually go between classes, which is around 12 to 2 or so. Mid day or early morning would be best, since most people are in classes or still sleeping then.

most of the times that the gym is packed is around 4-6 so since your a beginner, you might want to stay away from it until your more confident about going to the gym.

It is fine to workout alone. I find it better as I am not talking to my buddies about the hot tail on the treadmills haha. If you need a spot, just ask somebody. Ive never been turned down or turned down anyone else when asking for help. If anything, you end up making new friends who have the same goals as you. At osu, we have four different rec centers to go to, but they all seem to have the most people in them between 5 and 10.

my gym is open until 1am, so I usually head over at about 11:30pm. Even the it can't be a little crowded, but post 12:30am I am only one of a handful in the gym.

At my school a lot of sports train after 4 pm, so I like goin at that time to assert that even though I cant play lacrosse I can lift more than all the players
From 4-8 is peak hours, I've gone at 10am, 11am, 12pm, and its been completely quiet
But its probably a little different everywhere

Depends on student's schedules. The best thing to do is go in and see how many people are there when you lift. If something is taken, just ask whoever is using it how many sets he/she has left while you start working on the other open equipment for your program.

Our gym is worst from 4-8pm, but its a 55K student campus so thats a given. Early in the morning is usually pretty quiet, especially in college because we all love our sleep. I like the idea of asking the gym staff about when the most people are there and stuff though. Also, gym ettiquette says if you're using a machine for a long time or you are taking long rests and you know someone else wants to use it, let them work in while you're resting.

i have a power rack built by "tuff stuff" with a fully adjustable bench and 300 lbs of free weights. I use this equipment when i dont have gas money to drive to gym, or when i just dont have time to stay out late ill workout before bed.
