ok to ask for help?

Im new at bodybuilding and I would like to get to know the machines better at the gym I go to. Is it ok to go up to someone nearby and ask for proper positioning? or Will it be interfering with their workout?

Absolutely.

I would look for someone who:

1. Works there; or,
2. Looks like they know what they're doing.

Many times machines have instructions on them.

just use common sense. u can tell that soem people arent into much talking, lol...whereas some people are more open. Obviously youd never talk to someone DURING their set or when u can tell they are getting ready to start a set.

if u see someone helping someone else..then maybe u can get some help from them too...just dont monopolize their time 2 much

also, keep in mind that half the people there dont really know what they are doign anyway...including some of the trainers.

So in the end u have to sort of educate yourself but it is a big help if u can make friends with someone who knows what they are doing.

one of the worst things u can do is just watch and copy average gym people...like I said, most are clueless an du just pick up their bad habits

If it is a quick question then yes ask someone nearby but do realize that those of us on MP3 players probalby don't want to talk.

If you have alot of questions or no idea how to use a machine then ask the staff, thats what they are paid for.
