Muscle Milk... good or bad
discuss. Is muscle milk a good meal replacement or to drink in general?

nutritionally - decent
price- awful
its loaded with calories for such a small scooper, costs a ton, and having real shakes with pb, whey, milk, egg whites, and oats is 100x better.

I'm still not sold on the saturated fat content, although supposedly they have a new formula that is a little lower in fat and is slightly cheaper.

16g carbs (5g fiber, 3g soluble fiber, 2g insoluble fiber and 4g sugar)
32g protein
it tastes the exact same! I love it.

Muscle milk is great
Its one the highest quality in protein. This protein is suppose to be taken at night because it contains casein.Casein clumps up in the stomach which takes the body 4-6 hours to digest. So it release amino acids through the night not allowing your body to go in catabolic state.

I get it at Costco, otherwise the price doesn't justify me picking it up.

Does this new line come labelled differently, or did they just reformulate the whole product line top to bottom?

thats nice. So by saying its so great are you justifying that this kid should go buy and continue using it over REAL food with BETTER nutritional value?

LOL.....you're funny, you know that?????
Musclemilk is mediocre, with Glycocyamine and shady labeling practices. I would take most other casein proteins over it. Better yet, go with a homemade mixture, adding your own carbs and quality EFA's, as well as MCT's. Who the hell knows what the quality of Cytosport's MCT's even are?????

I hate to give away a secret... but if you visit GNC regularly you'll learn when they plan on marking down certain items that expire in 2-3 months, be that protein, supps, or any other number of things. For example, the day before last I went in and picked up five 4-packs of MM "Root Beer Float Shake carb conscious lean muscle formula". Retail is 10.99 for a 4-pack, I got each one for 2.76. Yeah, 75% off. So, it pays to keep an eye out for sales. I also picked up about 30 protein bars for $0.76 that retailed for $2.99/each. Of course, the catch to all of this is that you need to use it before or within a few months of it expiring, but if you know that it's going to happen then it's a good investment.
Now when it comes down to if it's better for you than what you can make at home, probably not. If it's a matter of convenience - like you want something for when you're taking a breather from skiing, then go for it.

Regardless of cost, nutritional content, etc...I simply love the taste of Muscle Milk (chocolate milk flavor). The best imo almost like brownie mix.

Crazy logic. If taste is the only thing that counts, I'd rather have actual brownies, or even a chocolate milk shake, the nutritional values wouldn't be that far apart.

LOL.
Yeah thats what I meant bro.
I hoard muscle milk in the cupboards. And then I binge on brownies. It's crazy. Dear god.
(I eat so clean it's nearly disgusting. I had muscle milk once in my f-ing life. If I could have it again...I would. It simply tastes good. Can a girl have an opinion?)
And btw - I'm sure you know this. But all the healthy eating in the world isn't going to do anything for people who don't lift hard. When it comes down to it, progress is won by hard work and sweat. Not the difference of 100 calories or a few more fat grams.

1) i prefer whole foods over shakes unless i have no other option
2) Price of MuscleMilk = pretty step; you can make your own MRP's with oats, PB, whey, Milk etc. in a much more cost effective manner.
but.....I gotta admit that i have tried 8 or 9 of their flavors and thought they all tasted amazing. so if you are going to buy one, i would recommend Musclemilk, for sure, if you dont mind paying the pricetag.
and if i hear one more person complain about saturated fats....

Honestly as soon as i saw the title of this thread i knew someone was gonna reply with this answer haha...happens every time. Please educate yourself on saturated fats. oh and BTW i beleive 80% of those saturated fats are MCT oils.

If your gonna take a portein that is premade, one that you bought there are definently some better options. I personally think Syntha 6 is better it is lower calorie and has a leaner effect. If you do get muscle milk you can get it for cheap off of sbmuscle.com

The amount of 'fat' in musclemilk is ridiculous if you drink 2 or 3 of them a day, you have almost reached the amount of fat your body needs. MuscleMilk says that the fat in their shakes helps you lose fat, but i do not believe this. Maybe i am wrong? Enlighten me!

who the **** drinks it three times a day. I use one scoop a day. Besides fat doesnt make you fat, in most cases people who manipulate their fat macros tend to be the leanest. Dont drink it 3 times a day thought ,thats 1150+ calories from ****ing shakes. Thats retarded.

Even though it does have lower calories and lower fat content, it's still high. For only 120 calories, ON has got 24g protein. I just can't justify using that many of my daily calories on a shake.
