Protein shake @ the gym. How do you guys do it?
I've been training for almost 3 years now and have always taken my protein shake w/ milk at home, about 20 mins after workout.
I want to take it right after my workout at the gym but cannot bc they don't let me use their fridge to store my milk. How do you guys do it? I don't want to down my shake w/ water either.
Thanks

I use water so I don't have that problem. I guess you could bring a cooler lol or just wait and do what you have been doing.

heavy ice.. and use water.. .. if you really really want milk, then go old school and pick up some of the ice cube cartridges and fill it with milk. let them freeze and add those to your mix.

Go with water PWO. Go with milk for your shakes during other times of the day.

The thing is that i workout for like 75 minutes. Then i do some cardio for like another 25 minutes. The time it takes to get to the gym is about 10 minutes. I wanna have my shake approximately 60 minutes into my workout. There is no way i can do that without consuming my shake at the gym, without driving back home of course.

Just continue with your current protocol. There's no real advantage of consuming the protein the second after you drop the last weight vs. ~ 20 or so minutes later. Over-analyzation is very prominent our culture... and often, what's simple is what works best.

1) Drink it at home is the best.
or
2) Drink it at the gym with water

mix it with water at gym then just drink some milk when you get home. Whey= directly after work (fast absorb) Milk=casien (slow absorbed) can wait... your just wasting protein taking too much at one time... Use different slow digesting protiens at different times of day... Peanuts (and others) are good, but the fats also prevent some protien absorbtion.. just play with.. but milk can wait. - Tank

I put 70 grams of dextrose, 46 grams of whey and 5 grams creatine into a dry 32 ounce gatorade bottle. Post workout fill it about half way with water and drink it down. Works great.

My gym lets me store my milk. If I forget, I buy a shake from the gym (Pro-Mass or ProPeptide.)

you have a 2-3 hour window for protein consumption..rushing through it will provide no benefit

I agree but how about if your workout is about 2 hours long (bc of cardio and plyometrics). Wouldn't it be a good idea to consume some protein in between the workout to keep your body anabolic???

You might be better off with a small bottle of gatorade.
Then get back home and continue with nutrition.

Either way that would mean you are doing upwards of 20 sets which is definitely counter productive.

Honestly I highly doubt 20 minutes will make that big of a difference in consuming your shake. Complete your normal routine, go home, have your shake. You'll be fine.

Cold Milk does not get warm in an hour, so unless your training session is really long its no problem...
