So far, so good on the program. Been 2 1/2 weeks and I'm already feeling stronger and noticed a very slight difference, nothing big of course, but I feel "tighter". I can't wait to see what 90 days of this will do!
|
My roomate has been on it for about a month and I have noticed that he is losing fat and toning up his muscle. I am planning on doing the P90X program starting around Feburary, so that by the end of the 90 days it will be around summer time

P90x
I too have purchased the P90X! I love it!! I was noticing some small results at the start and then have done some major slacking. But now I'm motivated to get it out and going again!! I have to agree with you that the yoga really sucks. I've always skipped it, it's way to boring. Although I see that some think to do it anyways, so I'm going to take there word for it! Tomorrow will be day 1 for me!! Goodluck! I can't wait to here your results after the first 90 days!!

Of course I love it..nd P90X + is coming soon
Glad to see you got the program and are following through
you can always mix it up by not doing as many reps, or higher reps ,less weight ..
hell I am on the second time around of the 90 day program and wear a 40 pound vest while doing
all the exercises... no reason to not think outside the box...
I also just ordered the www.tobands.com cant wait to supplement those into it
and have been using the TRX from www.fitnessanywhere.com
I am always looking for cool stuff to train my cleints, etc..
Hope this helped...
p.s. I hate the yoga to ... but it is a crucial part of the whole deal..
Roger

This program has always interested me, I am glad to see so many good reviews. It looks like I will be getting this program soon.
I would love to see some progress picks.

I just finished P90X last week, and it is defiantly one of the best "as seen on tv" products out there. I was in great shape before even starting it, having been working out for the past 5 years. ive black belted taekwondo, and ive always been into plyometrics and things like yoga to target weak spots, but when I started this, it felt like I had just started working out!! it is a great product- the yoga x is about the most intense yoga ive ever even seen- the kenpo x is so fast paced it keeps even my heart rate up- and as an endurance runner, the plyo x works wonders for me. The free weight workouts- although they demand that lighter weight be used- are targeted enough so that higher weight really isn’t necessary, and are also great to boost muscle endurance of the arms if you’re used to high weight low rep exercises like I was.
Hands down, if you’re already at a basic or even highly advanced fitness level, this is a great product either way. The p90X recovery drink is pretty good as well.

It works but you need to be dedicated
It is a great program that works, if you are dedicated, but if you are a college student or you have a lot of things to do everyday, P90X is not the program for you. You need 1 hour everyday and most people just don't have time to do that.

then dont spend it on an internet forum and instead spend it working out,a good workout needs about 45 mins.

Hey Karen!
Hmm.. P90x, I'd say if you've never tried anything like it, it could definitely give you just the kick you need. The routines and everything are pretty unorthodox compared to your run of the mill workout split. I downloaded it awhile ago (yeaaa.. I'm a cheapass), and it looks like it could be ok.
I read on your bodyspace you said you've plateaued so this could be just what you need, good luck!

Guys for those of you looking for the workout program, do a search on Yahoo or Google and there is a spreadsheet somewhere out there that details everything out there for you...it takes all your measurements, etc and shows your improvements to you on a weekly basis. It is pretty nice.

If i were to get this P90X program, would it be stupid to still do some free weight stuff at the gym and then do this when i was home for the night?

No not at all... P90X supposedly doesn't concentrate on adding mass, it's for leaning out/defining, so by all means go to the gym and do more if your goal is to add more mass. Plus you can only do so much with weights at home. You'll get some awesome results!

It's been working ok for me, I'll have to admit I'm not seeing significant results. Mainly because I can't really go as heavy as I want at home and don't have the fancy gym equipment so I think I'll be heading back to the gym. Good luck with that, looking forward to hearing about your progress.

There isn't much "cardio" in this program. There are a couple of DVDs in there that are supposed to be cardio but they're not very intense and I guess the videos being fast-paced and only resting 15 seconds or so between sets will get you sweating. I've known people to add some cardio on top of this program.

No I don't think you should be worried about wasting your money- different people get different results but I think if you follow it consistently and go heavy enough, you'll be happy.

This program seems better than most of the other advertised stuff. It sounds to me like a bunch of unorthodox calesthentics and such, but it seems alot more structured than the common DVD workouts sold. They seem like they do unorthodox movements but also the basics that work(pull ups and such) I've always been someone who relies more on myself to kick my own butt than something else, but it doesnt sound bad. Sounds good for women especially, and maybe guys who are trying to drop bodyfat and are bored with routine cardio and bodyweight excercises, its definitely not a mass building prgram.
I'd say do the yoga, its probably included to keep your muscles and joints flexible and fluid to keep you from injury during the programs.
If you're pulse and breathing are fast, you're getting a cardio workout from it. but if its not enough add some of your own.

Hello everyone. I got on p90x last august and in 90 days I gained a lot of mass and enormously improved in all areas of my fitness. I followed the program as it is, without leaving anything out.
I read through the thread and I must say its hard to believe some of you found the cardio workouts easy and the weight lifting not involving heavy enough weights. One great thing about p90x is that there is unlimited room for potential and growth. You could always lift heavier weights as you get stronger, you can always increase your range of motion as you become more flexible, you can always add your own intensity to the cardio routines and take on the more advanced options given to you when you improve your cardio vascular health. There are triathlon athletes that get wasted during the plyometrics workout for example. Id say if there is any single work out that gets easy for you, its time to change something, increase something, expand on something, add intensity etc etc... The program leaves room for that as you get stronger and more fit.

Agreed. I'm coming to the end of the program myself (exactly one week remaining!) and it was really intense for me. But whenever I found something getting easier I just increased the weight or reps, etc. Excellent program, definitely.
Has anyone hear tried the P90X multi-vitamin or recovery drink? I've been using my regular multi-vitamin as well as No-xplode, Cell Mass, Syntha-6 and True Mass as my supplements instead. I found it worked well but I was debating trying the P90X supplements for when I restart the program again. What have other people tried?

I use my own multi-vitamin as well and do not use their recovery drink. It's far too expensive. Buy your own online and follow the diet plan. YOU WILL GET RESULTS!
P90X kicked my butt so much, that I'm currently on my second round of it! Time to really shred up my body!

I have a few questions...
I wake up at 5am to workout and have a scoop of whey prior to hitting the gym & also make a post workout shake (2 scoops whey / 1 banana / half cup of oats). Would it be wise to keep my pre/post workout nutrition and treat this as a gym session? Also I take NO pre workout and BCAAs during. Should I scratch all supps except my multi and whey during this?
I ran the original Power 90 program (not the X version) about 2 years ago and had great results, lost about 35-40lbs.
As far as their nutrition plan goes, about how many calories a day are you getting? Worried about getting into too large a deficit.
