Must Have!
I have 2 mp3 players - and iPod and an IRiver. One "lives" on my elliptical at home, the other is in my purse. I can not do Cardio without one of them.

I have a old creative Zen that I would be lost without doing cardio, but have not used it when lifting . I may try that though after reading the thread.

I have two ipods right now and a zune. JUST so that if one is dead I have a backup. :-)
Ipods have my workout and cardio mixes on them, and the zune has my more mellow stuff. At first I kept having issues with the cord to the earphones, but now I find that by having the ipod on my arm, and running the cord down my shirt to it, I never have the cord in my way when I work out or cardio.

LOL. I think I have mastered some new form of sign language for communicating with the iPod on. I'll pop one earbud out for someone I like, but usually it's the iPod-handsignals

I use my nano for cardio ,but recently i have dropped cardio.
It certainly stops timewasters yapping to you and prevents you hearing the two cardio girls yapping nonstop "EVER SO LOUDLY!"

I'm addicted. I wouldn't be able to do weights or cardio without it.
Nothing better than house music while doing cardio. Kinda just pushes you along...

I really never thought I would want an IPOD or any other MP3 type player. But the Wife and Daughter got me one for Father's Day 2 years ago and now I can't train without it. I got it out of the gym bag this morning and realized I hadn't charged it. UGH. It made it through my entire workout and cardio before it croaked. I was a happy camper.

I had a a MP3 player a Rio. It crapped out on me 2 weeks ago.I was going to wait until Xmas to see if I would get one,but I could not go a month without my tunes. I need my music. When I work out I like to put the headphones on and zone out for a while. I wound up buying a Ipod Nano 4 gig. Its great. I am back with my tunes.

You can get the armband one. The ipod case is on your arm and out of the way. You can get them anywhere, Walmart, Best buy etc. I hope I get one for Xmas.

The 2 you mentioned are the same. I have seen a few people at the gym with them. They seem to not be in the way.

I have something similar to this one.
http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8Z060-..._sbs_a_title_2
Mine has a belt clip on the case. I hook it to the waistband of my gym shorts. It's so light you don't notice it at all. I have a 1GB Nano. I never use the armband but I see a lot of folks using them. I don't like things around my arms when I lift. I run the headphone wire under my shirt. I don't like the plain earbuds that came with it. I bought a set of over the ear clips. They don't fall off.

LOL and i thought i was alone! but im only 1/2 mile from the gym so its no biggie.
My biggest complaint is all that FLUFFY music you have to listen to while trying to get pissed off at the weights your about to lift.
I need raw in your face bitch slap yer ass music to lift.

Maybe I need to master that new form of sign language. It happened again today. I'm was resting in between sets and someone came up to me and started talking. But I tried something different this time. Instead of taking my earbuds out I kept them in my ears and yelled "WHAT?" real loud every time they said something.
Unfortunately, this didn't last long because he took my left earbud out and reminded me that I was wearing them while he was trying to talk to me.
Noooooooooooooooooooooo! Really?

hey m_goat, the belkin looks like it's strapped onto the arm as well. i just got an 6G ipod classic. think they haven come out with anything for that model just yet. i feel the same about armbands, tho i've never used one before. it seems uncomfy when lifting, esp when doing arms.
i've tried overtheear cilps long time ago. they hurt the back of the ears after a while. may stick to earbuds, unless i find them real annoying as well :P
thanx for the input anyway!

in a tropical malaysian weather, i'll sweat like hell after my workout. fear that the sweat will make the armband uncomfortble, thus affecting my workout. and i wear singlets for workouts. so wire-tucking may not work for me :S haha .... thanx for the suggestion tho

nah youll be fine! i believe its clip or arm band. I find the arm band keeps everything out of the way. my mp3 has never gotten in my way no matter what the excersize.

I need mine for cardio, but not for lifting. Although on Monday, the gym manager forgot to change the format. At 4:00 PM they had "Christmas themed music" playing when it is usually hard rock. I hated lifting to that!
