Saunas???

Hey guys, I'm sure this is a dumb questions, but I keep hearing about sauna's as of late. I am curious as to the benifits of a sauna. Is it just for losing water weight or is there other perks that go along with it?

Even though this is the fat loss forum, I'll throw this out there ... there is some recent research coming out that indicates Glutamine combined with heat stress (i.e. sauna) attenuates oxidative stress and improves the rate of muscle regrowth following exercise via heat-shock protein overexpression (heat-shock protein overexpression may increase muscle mass through a decrease in oxidative stress and damage).

Just sain'

So it helps recovery? No effect on metabolism or anything like that? BTW that was a particularly diffuse expression of terminology which exceeds my biological vocabulary - just sain'

I can tell you that 20 minutes in the Sauna has help me to lose 40 lbs.

I work out with the weights for 2 to 3 hours and then run on the treadmull for 30 to 45 minutes and then straight to the Sauna for 20 minutes.

I swear by it that it helps keep the fat burning from my run!
