Right now I work out alone. Will usually stop in for a couple of hours after work and before going home to the wife and kids. I like it...my 'me' time to throw my frustrations out privately against the plates and elliptical.
But there are times it'd be nice to have a partner if for no other reason than to have someone who can take the odd snap or vid of me doing my thing for posting around here.

I alone sometimes and sometimes my husband goes just to spot me. He pushes me harder than I would if I were by myself.

M-W-F = workout with partner. These are the days we hit major muscle groups ( chest/tri's/abs/cardio , legs/abs/cardio, and back/traps/abs/cardio for fridays )
T,Th,Sat = workout alone ( shoulders/bi's/cardio, strictly cardio thurs, cardio and some minor machine work for sat. )
Sun = rest

Alone ... 5am .. my basement !
I've had many training partners through the years but only 1 really reliable one and he moved out of town. We lifted together for a number of years a long long time ago !
John G - great story about your boys .. must be nice .. my son is 11 and my daughter is 9 .. they often come down to the gym with me and "lift" .. few more years and I think they will really be into it !

I worked out with buddies in HS and it was great. Now I do it alone and get a lot of work done quick, but once in awhile it would be nice to have someone there to push me a little harder.

I worked out over a year by myself with just my ipod but a month ago a coworker started working out with me and it was very beneficial for both of us. We were able to push past our failure sets and be motivate each other, be I think he missed seeing his kids off in the mornings when we worked out so he decided to not renew his gym membership (he has a home gym and works out with his wife so its not like he is missing out on training).
So I'm having to adjust to training solo again, not a big deal I guess. One thing is I learned a lot while working out with him so I can carry that into my current workouts.

Alone.
On one hand I'd love to have someone to share my workouts with, however, even though I have friends who train, none of them have goals that match mine. I once had a "partner" who was working for different reasons and towards different things than me (and had a very different attitude). Mostly we shared the ride to and from the gym. (By the way, he is now big and fat and looks older than me even though he is 5 years younger.)

I can see I am in the minority here! I workout with a partner and I know I work harder with him then without. He is always on time and pushes me farther then I would go on my own. He is 15 years younger and has the same amount of years lifting so I doubt I will outgrow him! He has young children and occasionally he can't make it but I just then go it on my own, no BFD. The only bad thing is a couple of time he has been able to talk me into going and having a couple of beers after workouts which is something I would not do on my own. Still, I know I am better off working out with him then on my own.

I too train with a partner, we have been training together for 5 years and I would not want to train any other way. He pushes me to the limit and can sense when I am holding back and kick me in the butt to get that extra rep out of me. He is much bigger than me (although I am trying to fix that) and that is always putting a challenge on me to try new PRs. If he is late I always yell at him as he does the same with me.
We workout during the day around our lunches/meetings so scheduling is always tricky but it is the first thing we do in the morning and we block out our hour every training day. Two years ago my office relocated to the other side of town and there is another GYM two blocks from the new building. I still travel to the other gym to keep my training partner.

I'm with Shreddedgeek! Lost my training partner about 2 months ago and I know I am not progressing like I use to. We are both power lifters. She is much more successful than I (280 Raw BP with a WADL shirted lift of 370- her not me). She always pushed me and insisted to not trade weight for form. Gender does not a training partner make!

I think there is a difference between partner and good lifting partner. Sounds like shredded has a good one. I had a good one once, but things change.

Alone for me now in my attic gym.
But I've had a few great workout partners over the years I trained at gyms though, one of the most 'memorable' was the fanatical millionaire oddball I trained with on leg day for about 6 months. He was at least 25 years older than me, but he trained extremely hard. We both squatted to total failure and he got the best out of me and I out of him...
...Until he came up with idea of bringing some sort of cane into the gym so we could whack each other with it while we were squatting - to goad us on to a few more reps!!! Holy ****. And he was DEAD SERIOUS and quite proud of his idea. I thought I'd better give that a miss as the sight of us whacking each other with some bit of wood whilst squatting 300+ would have been a bit disturbing to other gym members!

I used to work out with my father in our basement gym. Those were great workouts and he made a lot of progress; he quit smoking after 30 years and was able to do chins and increased his squats and overall feeling of well being tenfold.
Many times I've thought of those moments. At the time I was pretty blase about the experience because I was immortal and unthinking but now, many years later, I'd do anything to have him back again and doing a workout with me. Well hell, I have a lot of things I'd tell him, too, and ask his advice on.

I belong to a small gym and there are too many "posers" looking in the mirror all of the time instead of working out.

For the most part, I workout alone. I get into my zone and don't like having anyone interfere with my pace. But every day I'm at the gym, my friend Clem is there. He's a 75 year old competitive power lifter and he's given me some very good advice and encouragement. Mel is also at the gym every day I'm there. He's a young guy with a body like a comic book superhero who deadlifts about 100 lb more than I do. Mel wears an iPod so we don't talk much, but he lifts with such seriousness and intensity that I can't help but lift better myself when he's around.
I've only ever worked out with four different people. I worked out with my mom just for fun. I've worked out with my wife, but we do such different routines that it's not very practical. I worked out with Dartol once and that was cool. It was the first time I ever worked out with anyone from bb.com. I worked out with my older brother once and found that, for the first time in my life, I was the stronger of us.

Usually alone... I had a partner for about two weeks... It was nice to be able to do bench press with the free bar and push out those extra reps... He's gone till Jan though, so I am alone again... It's all good...
Peace...

I've had a few training partners but I found that sometimes they just don't want it as much. Now I train on my own it's just easier that way, I train the way I want when I want.

I workout alone. I have worked out with people before, aside from when I had a trainer. I haven't found someone that pushes me as hard as I push them. It would be nice to to have someone to workout with though.

alone..always.
BUT lately the thought of having a good partner in the gym is appealing to me.
the parallel would be that I have never been married but lately its on my mind some that a life partner would also be cool.
the ol "desperado" or "lone wolf" thing gets old eventually

Alone...
Every so often I train with my OH but it doesn't really work out because he lifts so much more than me and we spend too much time changing the weights... sometimes he spots me but I often find that I end up not getting as good a workout as I end up laughing when trying to push something that I probably could ....
I used workout with a 400m sprinter when I lived in England.. that was good as we could really push each other.... but that was nearly 10 years ago....

I workout alone.
No radio, total focus! No distractions. We do have a pulling session twice a month on Saturday's where a group of armwrestlers get together and pull very hard for a few hours. But as for my personal workouts with the weights, I cannot have anyone around!
