I would never intentionally demean Charles' win or disrepect him or his physique. If it came across as that then I WILL personally speak with Charles and offer my apologies.
I don't think there is anything wrong with me assessing the show, voicing my honest opinion, and being candid. In no way did I intend to attack Charles.
I only wish Charles the best and look forward to seeing him compete in the 202lbs class next in NY.

Why are you guys giving Peter so much crap. Have you ever met this guy? When I was at the olympia expo this year he spoke to me for at least fifteen minutes, giving me advice on compitition and nutrition. He is very passionate about what he does and I dont blame him for being upset at all. Oh and everyone saying he wont make it in the pros... do you guys realize how many top pros got their pro card in the light heavy class? A lot.

I'd like to see some more back poses to really determine who'm i think looks better. I would say there is an edge to Charles over Peter in pictures shown.

What does being a good person have to do with having a good physique and being gracious in defeat. Just because you meet someone making a guest appearance, doesn't mean the demeanor is indicative of their true personality.

Pete, don't waste your breath man. Posters on here are going to believe what they want to believe, hear what they want to hear, no matter what you have to say. Everyone knows things are cool between you and Charles. Keep on keeping on!

Because this thread is about his personality as an NPC competitor. Listen there are a lot of guys that will not even speak to their fans or if they do you have to pay 10 dollars for an autograph. And many are not going to give you talk to you as long as he did. While I talked to him you could tell he was passionate about his sport. He like all competitors put a lot of time, effort, and money into their preparation. He is an athlete and this interview was right after the show, he was still in the heat of the battle. Give the guy a break.

Did you even read the whole thread or just this page? Its NOT about his personality! Dont know why we cant give OUR opinion without all these emo posts! Every1's so quick 2 say we're bashin!
No1 is sayin he's a bad guy..sure we all know it was right after the show but, alot of people just think he couldve handled his defeat more gracefully..THATS ALL!
If he meant it or not is not really relevant...and its not about people wanting 2 hear what they wanna hear..it was in interview..his own words! People are just stating how he came across during the interview!
Lighten up!

Lady thats exactly what I am saying. Its just an interveiw don't be so quick to judge the man, like we have already established it was right after the comp he was still pretty worked up. How he conducted himself during the interveiw is apart of his personality. Like you, I am just voicing my opinion. calm down

if i was a pro, i'd be talking **** all the time.more so when its a guy thats better then me. it makes things interesting. it sets things up for the next show.
i cant stand all of this "i hope the best guy wins" bull****.
its a sport. its entertainment. theres no sports fan in the world that doesnt like a rivalry. teams and players talking **** to each other. but in bodybuilding, we act like were in church. "hes being disrespectfull, hes got no class, blah blah blah.
its about guys going to battle. not hugging onstage..let these guys talk **** to each other, and dont expect them to be best friends.turn off the parental control filter and this sport might actually be cool to follow

Peter was just 110% pissed off. Would you not be? Did he deserve 1st? probably not. However, The stress of his wife already being a Pro, and wanting to get to that level to compete, it is stressful. I dont think there is one person on this board that would not be pissed off for coming in anything less then 1st. When you compete, you compete to win, not hoping your going to come in 19th place.
I also will say that I like the way pump sounds, motivated and determined!!

Peter answered Bob's questions. He was being honest and open.
Bob asked if he felt he got "knocked out"?. What was he supposed to say? Congrats to Charles... he beat me... I'll keep working harder??? He simply pointed out what he thought Charles' weakness' are and why he didn't think he got knocked out by him. He wasn't being a sore loser at all.
The "spring chicken" comment could have been made in different way, but he was only making the statement that Charles is older and he doesn't have that much more room to grow and make improvements. Is that trash talk or is that a correct assessment?
What's wrong with someone in this industry having a personality and being passionate? How is Peter supposed to react? He felt he should have won as did others. Are they not allowed to make that statement? He didn't trash talk Charles he critiqued his physique which is what bodybuilding is all about.
There are way too many guys in this industry that are bland, boring, and can't articulate. If people are getting their panties in a wad over this stupid video interview they just need to grow up. He is one of the few bodybuilders that always gives good interviews and is entertaining.

At best it's a poor assesment of the situation. What does potential to make improvements or age have to do with the show?
It's about who looked better on stage at the present.
Trash talk is something you might do leading up to the show, not after.

I've known Charles for almost 10 years now. I've trained with him and I've watched him go from being the person asking everyone questions about competing to him becoming a great bodybuilder.
First off, Putnam may be talking out of fustration but it doesn't make it right for him to try to act like he was the true winner of that show and Jessica is talking completely out of her ass. The vast majority of people at the event said that Charles completed destroyed him onstage in every aspect.
Charles has been cheated out twice at the Nationals due to bull**** politics especially last year. He's paid his dues and his earned the right to be an IFBB pro 3 times over. The fact that he came back every year to do it again shows the determination he had to make it happen.
Putnam will eventually become an IFBB pro but not this year. He's not good enough and should next time not let his sponsors at Flex Magazine blow smoke up his ass and be more humble.

Nope, not pissed at all...
I just don't appreciate being told I am "completely talking out of my a%$", when I was at the show and recieved alot of feedback myself from spectators and people in the industry... before and after the finals.
Everyone will see it different ways... That is the nature of the sport. It is subjective. I just don't think that anyone could say that the majority of people wanted Peter or Charles to win... You cannot make statements such as that or more over if you weren't even there.
Peter answered Bob when he asked if he thought Charles "knocked him out"?. Peter didn't think that was the case.
This whole thing about Peter being rude etc. needs to stop. He was in the heat of the moment, he was intense. Peter does respect Charles regardless of how you guys wish to interpret this.
I think most people agree that Peter is a stand up guy. I don't think one interview is going to affect how the majority of people view him, not in the least.
Happy Holidays!

Jessica, I spoke with Pete the day before I did my side show w/ Billy Guns for MD and he was a lot more humble that day than he was on that video. In fact, I thought it was two different people.
So please don't pee on my leg and tell me its raining....you and Pete were disrespectable and even to the point of name calling on video.
Aside from all comments, I understand you're defending your husband but its still all about talking out of your ass. The fact was it wasn't even close between Pete and Charles because Charles did have more maturity than ....chuckle....spring chicken like Pete. I don't know what spectators you were speaking to but even a blind man with a cane and seeing eye dog could have seen that Charles won the show
In all honesty, Pete technically should have won because Charles should have won last year against Stan.
The only thing Pete really needs to do is to come back next year and he'll be an IFBB pro. But I would add that you and your husband need to act a little more graciously and not get caught up believing your own hype just because your Weider Athletes. He'll be a pro, but this year he simply got knocked the **** out and that's all there is to it.
Peace Out

Peace Out
