That gym sucks. You should come to the REAL Xsport that is off of Golf rd. It is also in Arlington Heights, but you don't have basketball and swimming pools. Just weights and cardio and tanning if you are into that. LOTS of big guys there. Much cheaper too.

I havent been to that Xsport. I have heard a lot about that gym and the people that work out there, meaning gear usage... I pay $25 a month, I dont think that is bad.

I'm in Rockford. I've been part of some of the worst gyms in town - including a certain hellish gym that's five minutes from home - but I'm happy where I am now.

That's where I lifted in high school (and now when home from school) there are a BUNCH of huge ripped dudes there, I feel so tiny when I walk in.

Hey all - I will be moving to Chicago here shortly (Lincoln Park / Uk Village / Bucktown / Wicker Park area....not sure yet) and I will be looking for a good gym. I will of course need a serious free weight selection and utilize Hammer Strength at times as well......a gym with serious lifters preferred. Hours of operation are big with me too, I am up at 4 am on my way to lift and may need to hit it up late night on certain occasions too. If anyone can give me a few choices of gyms to look into i would appreciate it. Definitely doesnt have to be fancy or anything but prefer updated equipment....weights are weights no matter how nice the building is. Thanks for the help in advance. - J

I believe you mean just east of 53... I lift there over winter break and during the summer.

That's interesting because when I called the one on Golf Rd. their prices were cheaper than the one in north arlington. The guys at the north arlington xsport said that that one is cheaper because its a smaller facility... but the actual weight/cardio part is better?

Yeah, but damn expensive! From what I've heard, the owner's a real d!ck. But I've never had the pleasure of meeting them.
Rockford has at least one other good gym besides Peak. Check out Windsor Athletic Club - it's where I go and I love it there. Much cleaner than the late lamented Champions and certainly a better place than the hellish Inferno (which ought to be closed).
