from the back, i look rectangular. I recently lost around 24 pounds, and am now approximately 146 pounds. i plan on losing a bit more, because i still have a slight muffin top and fatter thighs than i would like. in between my muffin top and thighs, i seem to be concave? i have these large dents in the sides of my butt. I still have a lot of toning up to do, but I was just wondering what training I could do (if any) to fill out these dents a bit or at least make them less obvious?
would love to be confident wearing cute dresses to show off my new slimmer figure, or high waisted jeans, or even a bikini but I'm so self conscious of my square butt!
help! thanks!

there's no muscle to the side from the glutes, so if you don't store much there or lose more fat there than elsewhere, you will have a 'dent'.

I have dents too
On my butt and thighs. I think its uneven fat distribution (like really bad cellulite) I haven't managed to get rid of them just yet. I'll let you if they stay there when i lose more body fat :P♫♪♫♪ Down and out with my dumb friends, ready to misbehave ♫♪♫♪

I remember when I first lost enough fat that this happened to me, I was really upset and grossed out by it, but then I came across this picture.

What's a reverse hyper?
I know I probably stand alone in this, but I do not find the above pic to be a nice woman booty. Yeah I hear lots of guys go one about that look, but to me it looks too big and fat even if she does have muscle. It amazes me how many people feel to the contrary. I am hoping my butt will be flat and slim and that is what I am working for though with my ethnicity working against me I will more likely end up looking like her cuz I'm about at that point now.

Not that I really care about it but I have these dents too, this after bulking up by more than 40 lbs over one year. My sense is that they'll disappear once I get to the 180 lbs range at my current BF level (18-20%)
Of course I can't think of how muscle can be packed onto that area, hence at a lower BF% if your structure dictates that the dents are gonna be there not much you can do about it. All you can do is build glutes* Skinny to non skinny transformation crew * - I am gonna effin nail this

Yes, I would kill for that bum.
But I think I know what she means. If (like me, alas) you store fat around the iliac crest - a kind of low muffin top if you will - then it can overhand the side of the glute and, combined with saddlebags, create a rather unattractive violin-shape to the pelvis. Or a double bass in my case. Eh.
I've attached a couple of bad mirror photos to illustrate the fat I'm talking about. These are *old* pictures which I keep in a folder called "Fatty". Excuse the toilet roll.Current log: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=149169243

This is a reverse hyper. I don't have the machine, so I use a medicine ball and attach my legs to a cable machine.

My guess is that the dents come from having a more pronounced gluteus maximus relative to the medius and minimus, which would give a boxier shape. You could target the other muscles more, but idk how much hypertrophy you can get out of them.
