Cardio won't burn muscle or cause muscle loss. Muscle atrophy occurs after prolonged immobility or by not continuing your strength training program. Cardio will however promote fat loss.

Throw in a day of tabata rounds. They are not something you do regularly (maybe once a week max). I do once every 2 or 3 weeks and they always shock my muscles. I literally feel the fatigue all day...
