I am sorry but the muscle does not just connect at one end and then the other it is alot more complicated than that. It attaches at multiple points across the chest including some ribs.

Seated calf raises 3 working sets around 25 reps. This hits the soleus muscle a little more because the knee is bent and it seems to respond to high reps.

Try dumbbell shrugs but if you are doing barbell shrugs with full range shoulders all the way to your ears you should be hitting it. Also try going to the smith rack and changing your hand position.
