your diet has EVERYTHING to do with retaining or losing muscle while out of the gym..up the protein intake and invest in some EAA's and BCAA's...the amino acids are crucial in preserving hard earned...

for side laterals i grab a moderate weight i can rep out and do 10 with my right, then ten left, then ten right etc until i get 50 reps out of each..they work like a charm for me i usually finish...
