If the primary goal is Lat development then dont kip if the goal is conditioning and overall body strength then kipping is just fine, as kipping is an explosive and coordinated movement its takes...

Weak triceps, chest usually gets the bar off of your chest but for the lockout incorporates more tricep action. Least thats what I see.

Without experience you prolly going to at least get an entry level cert like A+, N+, Security+. Is your degree in IT?? If so maybe CCNA or MCP would be a better start.
