Personally I usually change up mines every 4-6 weeks to keep the body off guard from adapting. I would say stick to the routine that you are currently on and create a tracking log of what you have...

I occasionally use it for shrugs and lunges, or at the end of a workout I'll use it as a bench press just to get that extra pump for the pecs.
