Finding a spotter in most fitness centers shouldn't be a problem; just tell the potential spotter you'll reciprocate.
Who knows; you might even find a decent workout partner this way.

Beginners need to stick to the basics. Pick one goal (build muscle, lose fat, increase endurance, etc), then choose a program to move you towards that singular goal.

Pick a beginner program from the stickies at the top of this forum. Stay away from the programs touted on the front page of this website.
The plain truth is that until you buckle down and stick with a structured beginner program, and fix your lack of nutritional discipline, you'll never make any appreciable progress.
