Even light squats aggravate it, so squats are out for now.
Light deads (relatively speaking ofcourse) don't seem to bother it, so I've been doing those, plus some upper body exercises. However...

Your progress is coming along just great. I'd say, stick with the SS as long as it's working.
And clearly something is working - the break, extra eating etc....

I have to stop doing deads, back squats for some time because of continuous hamstring tightness and some cyatica type pain in my right calf and pain. It may be a herniated disc...
The weights are lighter than I would like to use, but I get a good sweat and I lift the weights fairly fast on the concentric phase, so I end up generating more tension compared to lifting at normal...
