Why waste time with a strength routine if it's not their goal? They're 100% right. You do understand there are routines other than bro splits that are aimed at mass.. right? No one is implying...
Why train a certain way if you don't enjoy it? Srs.
With a surplus, you can still gain quite a bit of muscle from purely strength training (1-5 reps). Obviously not anywhere near as much compared to 'hypertrophy routines'.
