The protein will not turn into fat. Maybe if you were drinking 6 shakes a day, but if you have 3-4 scoops a day I'm sure it'll be fine. Try and get out and do some cardio then have your shake.

The wider you go the more it will work traps(depending on how the barbell is brought up). An olympic lift called a high pull is a great exercise for the traps. You should check it out.
